Very nice affordable hotel in a great location that allows visitors to walk all of Amsterdam. The rooms are modern in the new building and more canal house style in the older, both very nice, but I prefer the modern, brighter room. The staff a wonderful and knowledgeable. The breakfast is great. Definitely a great place and we will return!

Loved my 4 night stay here. Room was quiet (aside from loud group of people right outside my door in the hallway one night). Also appreciated that hotel was on a quiet street yet still walking distance for nearly everything in the city. Bed was hard, yet comfortable. Shower was a bit awkward...hard to stand fully under the water as...

You won't think from the outside that the hotel is as beautiful as it is. When you walk in to the hotel, natural light streams in. The check-in process was very smooth and the staff very polite. We booked an interior room because it was just my sister and I who were on vacation so we did not need anything...

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and we had a lovely time. The breakfast in the Palm Boom restaurant was hot and cold buffet style with the option of ordering other dishes such as poached eggs, waffles, porridge etc. The Pastori bar just of the lobby area was very relaxed and an ideal stop off for a night cap each...

I have ordered a room via booking.com and then changed a room a date before the trip to a better room - business room. It was a little bit bigger and had some more amenities. We took a train from the airport and then a taxi to the hotel. Hotel location is great, you can walk practically anywhere, we had...

I have not been back to Amsterdam for a few years, so my default stay when in doubt is always The Radisson. Located off a very unassuming street, Radisson Blu is well positioned in the centre of the city. Entering the hotel reception, lots of natural light fast warm your cold street walk. The reception is spacious, warm and inviting,...

Stayed at the Radisson Blu in the city centre, within easy walking distance of Amsterdam's major attractions. Room was very comfortable, but could have done with an additional comfortable chair. Air conditioning system noisy but efficient. Bath a little on the small side, would have preferred just a large walk in shower, instead of the shower over bath that was...

We booked an AirBnB appartment on Damstraat, a stones through from Madame Tussauds but on arriving we realised we had been scammed. Left on the side of the road we looked for a reputable hotel and what better than the Radisson Blu. We googled and called them for a reservation. They were very helpful and offered us a room immediately....

Thanks to Mandy Fleming, Guest Experience Manager, Radisson Blu, for giving us the background on the Radisson Blu and its values. Your advice on local restaurants was taken and the Italian is well worth a visit.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
