The place is in the middle of it all and I guess you pay for the location because what the hotel offers is not much. Internet is poor, the bathroom is tiny but worst of all, the heat was no on in my room when I got in at 11, a nightmare scenario in the winter. The cleaning staff seriously... More

Brilliant first trip to Amsterdam in May 2015, good location, lovely big window in room which overlooked the streets, room was better than expected. Although we found it tricky to find first of all, it is really easy. Not far from some of the main attractions such as the dungeon.

If you're looking for somewhere nice and central, clean and friendly then I can recommend Cordial. Perfectly located in the heart of Amsterdam, quiet, clean and tidy. Don't expect beach views, you're in the middle of a city 😂 The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

Small but clean and cozy rooms. Be sure to ask for a double bed as we got two single bed pushed together, however, the mattresses were comfy. Location is great and the breakfast is affordable and excellent. Croissant was fresh with a nice selection of quality meats and cheeses. Highly recommend if visiting Amsterdam.

The hotel is very centrally located, 20 minutes walk from Central station, 5 minutes from Dam Square. We had a small double which was small! However the toilet/shower room was very good with a good shower. Looked fairly recently refurbished. The staff at reception were very efficient, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good value and there were boiled eggs, cold... More

Just returned from our first visit to Amsterdam,Hotel was about a 10-12 minute walk from the main station just past Madam Tussaud's . We arrived around 10 o'clock in the morning and was greeted by a very cheerful and happy staff member who said that we couldn't check in till about 2 pm but was more than welcome to leave... More

Room was tiny - bathroom door bangs the bed. WiFi didn't work. Soap dispensers empty. Not clean, a few bugs. Fittings damaged. Other rooms' plumbing sounds are very loud in my room. Very loud noise transmission from staircase and corridors. Room window looks out onto a dark wall of the adjacent building accross an alley (although that was obscured by... More

Second stay here and it's a good place. Stayed at the back of the hotel the first time which was a hell of a lot better than the street facing room we got this time round as early in the morning you can hear all the trams and street sweepers. Still a good place to stay though, really good location,... More

The hotel looked so good in the pictures, was described perfect, but this is all a lie. It says that the hotel has a wifi, at the first day we had a wifi, however at the rest 4 days the wifi signal was so low that it didn't reach our room on the 5th floor. The staff doesn't know how... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
