Booked the Ambassade Hotel for three nights on our first trip to beautiful Amsterdam. The hotel was nothing short of absolutely fabulous. Upon arrival we were given an upgrade to a lovely split level room which was warm, comfortable with an enormous double bed and overlooked the canal side. The staff gave us a warm welcome and couldn't do enough... More

I usually stay in a different hotel when in Amsterdam but that was full so I chose this as an alternative. Super nice hotel and it will now be difficult to choose in the future. First and foremost, location is top. Herengracht is beautiful and quiet and the hotel is just a short walk away from bars, restaurants and the... More

We stopped in Amsterdam for for four nights and were thrilled with this beautiful property. Our room overlooked the canal and the view was breathtaking. The room itself was historic but full of amenities including a heated bathroom floor. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning.

Having never been to Amsterdam and with no personal recommendations on where to stay, I picked the Ambassade based on Trip Advisor reviews. I was not disappointed. From the minute I checked in until the minute I left, nothing was too much trouble. The staff are incredibly polite, welcoming and attentive. The location is spot on - overlooking the canal... More

Staying at The Ambassade hotel, giving me a great experience. The hotel was not big, a boutique hotel with antique interior. The staffs were nice and warm, they treat customers personally. The room was very clean and nice, had a beautiful window scene - water front canal. The staff said the best room which had beautiful view. And yes, indeed.... More

I stayed at the Ambassade Hotel with my son for 3 nights. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. On our arrival we were given information about the city and the best places to visit. Our room was gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The location is great.... The Ambassade earns high marks on all counts. Rooms, service and location all great... and the library was a wonderful place to enjoy a drink after a long day of touring. Would definitely stay there again on future visits to Amsterdam.

Great location. Reception workers are extremely nice and friendly. Room itself was spotless clean, it has a lovely bath, and there's a lift so you don't have to carry your own luggage (also somebody helps you with that). I didn't have breakfast (or room service) because it was too expensive for my taste, but the experience itself was superb. 5... More

Whenever I visit a city I always try and find a hotel which will be my go to destination whenever I return to that city - this hotel is most defiantly the one for Amsterdam. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
