I had a great experience staying at the Ambassade hotel. The staff is super professional, friendly, and very helpful. Rooms are spacious and always spotless clean. As for the location, I only got in a car on my way to the airport, otherwise, all major attractions are within a 10 to 20 minute walk..If I'm in Amsterdam again, I will...

Nicely situated on a canal, the Ambassade Hotel proved comfortable, convenient and charming. My husband and I had a room facing the canal with a little sitting area that would have provided a lovely opportunity to relax with a glass of wine while enjoying the view. Similarly, the hotel had interesting and beautifully decorated common rooms filled with contemporary artwork....

This is a wonderful hotel to stay in while visiting Amsterdam. The view of the canal was beautiful, the room was so cozy and the bed so comfortable I hardly wanted to leave. The staff were top notch, charming and professional. The whole experience was first class.

Ambassade hotel was more than we expected, even though we had high expectations. :) Our rooms (three) were clean, cozy and beautiful. The staff was extremely nice, easy going and helpful. The breakfast was superb and the location best you can get at Amsterdam (in the middle of everything). Our trip was for business, but I will come back to...

We mentioned our upcoming (Jan 10-15,2017) trip to Amsterdam to two different couples and independently both highly recommended the Ambassade. How right they were! The Ambassade has a wonderful ambience starting with the entrance foyer placing staff at the front door and the center of welcome and assistance. Julian, Femke, Linde and all front desk were always helpful with good...

We spent a lovely weekend in Amsterdam, visiting galleries and staying at the Ambassade Hotel. It's a beautiful 17th century building with fully modern amenities, well located in the centre of the city with canal side views and convenient for museums and restaurants. Their own restaurant is excellent. The hotel makes a feature of their own art collection, mainly work...

We stayed for two nights in midd January 2017 and had a great time. For the money our room was wonderful. The staff could not have been more attentive. The decor was superb. This place is extremely well located for tourists with walking distance of just about everything.

I have been a regular guest at this hotel having staying at least once a year for the last four years. Since the renovations and addition of the restaurant this has become the outstanding hotel in my favorite European city. I have found the staff excellent in every way and the "superior" rooms with canal views are both spacious and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
