This was a decent-ish hotel in an excellent reputation, but it was ABSOLUTELY RUINED by the appalling rude staff. They had no patience for tourist questions (that's their job) and they were snobbish. The remote control broke in our room and they were horrendous about getting it fixed. The rooms were tiny and run down, but the public areas were...

My friend and I stayed for 3 days in middle of October. No trouble finding hotel took airport bus 197 Hotel in nice area over looking Vondel park. Room was compact but had all mod cons and everything needed overlooking the garden, beds very comfortable. Reception and all staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice also. Bad quality vs price ratio; the rooms are small, stains on the wall and ceiling in the bathroom. For €353+ per night I expected a lot mor than this. The staff is ok and the location across the Vondelaprk is great. Overall I would not go back nor recommend this hotel. There are better hotels in the same area.

Reservations: cannot comment as someone else made them for me. Price: very reasonable by Amsterdam standards. Room: very small, very quiet, very well designed, with a comfortable bed, nice bed linens, and a flat screen TV, plus blackout curtains to block the light. Bathroom: minuscule but well designed. Breakfast: pleasant enough but not the best I have had in Europe....

Sitting in this bedroom (no 135) brings back a lot of memories of my old university bedroom....from 20 years ago. Apart from the flat screen TV which didn't exist then (I had a small box Sony TV with the aerial that required wiggling around) this is almost an exact albeit smaller version of what I stayed in London all those...

I was irritated by several things about this hotel whilst also being impressed by other things. I booked this hotel because it had been booked by my two German friends who were going to Amsterdam for the first time. First of all that, having booked the hotel, they took the charge for the room from my account a week before...

The hotel ticked all the usual boxes - clean, good (massive) bed, modern decor, good bathroom, air conditioning etc. The location is great, just a 5 minute stroll from the Rijksmuseum and close to tram stops for easy access to the whole of the city. The massive Vondelpark is right outside the hotel's front door too - a huge green...

The best thing about this hotel is that it is close to a lot of the renowned museums in Amsterdam. It is right around the corner from the Van Gogh Museum and a short distance from the Rijksmuseum. it is also right around the block from the P.C. Hooftstraat shopping district. The staff are friendly, especially the bartenders. I suppose...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
