To begin with, the hotel looks absolutely nothing like the images they have posted. It's dank, out dated and quite frankly depressing, reminded me of something out of The Hogwarts, started to actually think I was Dumbledore with my pals Harry, Ron and Hermione after a few puffs of the devils lettuce. THERE WAS AN 8 FOOT DRAIN that was...

We arrived thirsty from a long journey flight delayed but there is no bar boo. Decor is really ropey throughout although our shower room was newly refurbed and in decent order.Usual stuff in room safe tv coffee tea facilities etc.It is really expensive for the quality of the place, you are paying for the locality next to Dam square and red...

Great location but noisy, make room sound proof. Close to the Central Train station and city tours but room was not sound proof and lot of loud outside noise keep bothering us till 4 am. You have to deposit money to get an iron in the room, TV remote was without batteries.

Staff and breakfast was excellent. One room was pretty tight, quite and not worthy of the money. Other room was way better but was right beside busy party street. If you want a great sleep don't stay here. If you come to party and stay up late you will like it.

We've booked a triple room at this hotel and it was a parter room, which it windows were facing the streets. We didn't want to close them to allow air into the room but we didn't had enough choice because it was like people moving inside your room. I don't know how the other rooms are, but I advise you...

Staff were really helpful and nice room was nice. I've stayed in a lot of hotels in a steam over the past three years from top end to budget, And I can truly say this hotel is not bad at all . One min from Central Station. Can be noisy at night you are my heart of Amsterdam after all!

This hotel is very well located, just a few minutes walk from central station. Close to Dam square. The staff is friendly and do the best. But the rooms are poor and need reconstruction asop. And too much sounds from the street.

Tiny shabby room, poor breakfast and very noisy, give it a miss. Good air conditioning and bathroom but otherwise poor facilities. Reception staff friendly but they openly admitted the maintenance was poor.

front desk staff his name was June, he was so very helpful. Changed rooms for us due to stairs being an issue for me. Called our tour group to get information to guide us to where to meet our tour group. Gave us directions and maps. Easy to understand and was glad for his help.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
