I must say that I wasn't a fan of this Hotel. The building itself is like a rabbit warren with narrow hallways that seem to lead in all different directions. Having spent some time in Europe I had a bit of luggage with me so even though I used the lift to get to my room I still had to...

Stayed for two nights in this small but tidy hotel. The location is ideal being five minutes walk from Central Station and two minutes from the infamous Red Light District and the numerous bars and cafes in the vicinity. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and the rooms we were given , whilst small, were perfectly adequate with a decent...

Second stay here and again cant fault the place. Perfect location for bars and sights, rooms cleam and good size and staff always helpful. Will be back again without doubt next year for Kings Day. Worth it for the street party on the doorstep

To start with the positives - the hotel is in a great location, and the room was very clean - but - rather than being a bedroom it was more of a corridor with two beds in it - our headboards were back to back with enough room to walk to the wardrobe at the bottom of the room, the...

Stayed for three nights at the hotel and chose not to have the breakfast. It was in a great location to see lots of the centre of Amsterdam and very close to central station. We got a superior room which was nice, not amazing but nice. Was slightly disappointed that we only got a shower instead of a stated shower/tub...

Price and location were okay but if I could have chosen myself this would not have been my choice for the following reasons: my first room was way too hot to stay in so I was given another room. Even with the use of the elevator there were several stairs and narrow hallways to navigate. Breakfast service started quite late....

Perfect location, just a few street away from the centre of Amsterdam, close to Centraal Station and Damrak, a street full of souvenir shops and eateries. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, offered the use of a secure luggage room on arrival so we could freely explore the city without our heavy luggage, and on departure as our flight...

Great location, close to shops, Amsterdam train station, canel hop on hop off boats. Rooms are in need of an update, but still clean and comfortable. Breakfast is fantastic. Lots of stairs which we didn't mind, there is a lift, however if older or have knee problems maybe request first floor or room by lift. Would stay here again.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
