De L'Europe Amsterdam stands as a beacon of luxury, nestled by the canal and hailed for its central location, making it an ideal spot for those eager to explore local attractions. The hotel's charm is encapsulated in its spotless rooms and marble bathrooms, which, along with the modern amenities and elegant decor, frequently receive accolades from guests. While some visitors have faced issues with room service, the majority celebrate the hotel's attentive and professional service.
Opinions on value do diverge, however, with some guests mentioning unexpected charges. Nonetheless, the inviting atmosphere and overall cleanliness contribute to its esteemed reputation.

Detailed Reviews
What an incredible hotel to enjoy Amsterdam. My wife and I walk a lot when traveling and the De L'Europe (DLE) was right in the center of it all. We were greeted warmly and walked up to our room, which was a Premium Room (Deluxe). Size of the bedroom was adequate, very very nice, all marble bathroom. Beautiful room and bathroom. The lobby bar Freddy's is a must stop (for us every night it was) with Heineken beer, great cocktails and bar snacks, and live piano music. The breakfast in the morning overlooks the canal, and you will have one of the best Dutch Waffles you have ever had in your life here. We booked a Canal Tour on the boat Jean Schmitz which was a great time (beer and wine included). Leave your off property dining experiences up to Nathan at the concierge, he will point you in the right direction (Maris Piper and Sichuan Food, that's the actual name of Chinese food place). My wife said the gym was nice as well, nice indoor pool downstairs as well. You can certainly find cheaper hotels to stay at but you can't beat the location, service and atmosphere at the DLE while staying in Amsterdam.

We just spend a night à the hotel but it was a fantastic experience. The hotel made us a superbe offer due to the situation with the COVID 19. We had a beautiful suite on the canal. A very very beautiful room, with an elegant bow-window adorned with an Artdeco desk, a giant bathroom in exquisite marble, a bathtub and shower of course
The bed was huge and very very comfortable.
We were welcomed with Prosecco and strawberries deepened in chocolate...so nice !
The service was excellent and the staff very very friendly with much attention to detail..
It is a great and elegant place to be
We had diner at the 1 Michelin star restaurant Bord d’eau and it surpassed our expectations. All dishes were creatively presented and absolutely delicious. They were also a pleasure for the eyes. There as well the personnel is really attend to details and very friendly.
The breakfast at the restaurant Marie was less interesting. We were a bit at the late side.. Again the personnel very very friendly and ready to offer the best and please the customer, however it was not at the level of what we had experienced till then. Especially the choice of bread should become a point of attention - the toasted bread was really common and a bit dry- As we wanted an other bread a fresh baguette type was freshly backed for us. It arrived warm and direct from the oven. Delicious!! However we had to ask for it... and by a hotel of this standing breakfast could be more elegant and elaborated
In overall we had a indescriptible beautiful experience as we celebrated ou 11th anniversary and it was very honored with many point of attention from the hotel !
Thanks a lot all the staff and the exquisite care !!

So glad we chose this beautiful historic, luxury hotel! Wow what a memorable experience. We had one of the newly remodeled rooms which was beautiful (I see some complaints about size but most hotels in metropolitan areas have smallish size rooms, it seemed normal and plenty large for us) and they offered many amenities in a prime Amsterdam location on the canal. When so many hotels are cutting back services, the Hotel de L'Europe stands apart with an amazing breakfast offering, turn down and housekeeping service daily, and multiple restaurants on site to choose from, all of which were open. We really enjoyed drinks and snacks in the lobby area overlooking the canal as well as the iconic Freddie's Bar. Although we didn't eat there, the fancy vegan restaurant, Flora, looked amazing. We had dinner and caviar service at Marie, with a view of the canal to die for, this is the ultimate hotel for a romantic getaway or upscale business gathering. The staff were always helpful and eager to please, we can't wait to go back. With so many hotels to choose from, we were very happy with the decision to stay here, the memories and experience were worth every penny.

We were so lucky to stay at hotel de l'Europe as part of the yearly Dutch Hotelnacht Festival. It is a truly luxurious hotel with an absolute top location in the heart of town. We were spoiled with a an unexpected upgrade and enjoyed a room with a fantastic view of the Amstel river. We loved the luxurious marble bathroom and the huge bed (it must have been more than 2 meters wide). During our stay we were very well taken care of by the staff. At breakfast a young lady by the name of Danica made us feel like royalty! We hope to be back

Look, this is a beautiful hotel with overall friendly staff and they do their best to accommodate your every wish. However, they don’t keep their promises. I was promised to have a choice of room if my first choice wasn’t to my liking. But when I wanted to switch the other room wasn’t available anymore. I’m convinced I was lied too. This particular staff member didn’t react to my wishes and pushed his opinion on us. I was so irritated that I stopped engaging with him. He really shouldn’t be working in hospitality. When I mentioned that my room had a smell he wanted to spray some perfume in my room. When I told him that I didn’t want that he said “but this costs €300!!” As if I care about the price. Like I said, horrible experience.
The eggs Benedict at breakfast were also not good. The toast was burned and it tasted like old bread.
Another issue I had is with the spa. I wanted to make a booking but it was already fully booked with non hotel guests! Seriously?!
This was my first experience with de L’europe and also my last and I will also take this hotel of the preferred hotels list of my companies.
I think there are much better choices available in Amsterdam.

Wow! What a pleasure it was to stay here. We returned 10 years after our first stay and much found a few (welcome) changes but much had stayed the same. The first thing worth comment is the quality of the service. Simply amazing. Sometimes it may seem a little over-eager but I was amazed by how helpful the staff were from the doorman through to the cleaner and the waiters in the restaurant. Dining a bit late following our arrival? Not a problem. Taxi back to the airport? I'll grab it immediately.
The food is as good quality as you'd expect from a hotel like this although it'll be September by the time I get to try Flore. The bar is busy and is very slickly run - the bar manager keeping an eye on your drinks and remembering what we ordered the night before!
We had a superior room this time and my goodness, was it luxurious. I ended up taking a photograph of the bathroom so that I can replicate some of the features and aesthetics at home.
The location is great for walking or taking a tram to the different parts of the city. We also took an intercity train which was easy enough with the metro so close too. To and from the airport seems to advocate a taxi though.
The only downside is the price of a stay. I booked during lockdown and got a great deal. Looking to return, I found that the room rate had doubled and came with a 4 night minimum stay!
This has to be Amsterdam's best hotel or, if not, it is certainly vying for it.

I have stayed here in September and enjoyed the stay a lot!
After the refurbishment of the public spaces, the hotel emanates a intimate exclusivity.
Although my room was not yet refurbished, the marble bathroom was in great shape. The furniture within the room was a bight more used, but the overall condition was good. Although, this certainly is a matter of personal taste, the colours were a bit dark. The room was perfectly cleaned.
Above all, I have to mention the unparalleled service. Almost every employee was very friendly, supportive and displayed a great degree of hospitality! They really made me feel welcomed.
The only minor negative thing to mention is that the variety of the á la carte breakfast. Warm egg dishes are not included. Lastly, the valet parking service with 75€ per night seems overpriced, even considering the high fees in public garages in Amsterdam.
I will definitely return to Hotel De‘Leurope!

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times before covid, I came with my fiancé on kings day and stayed for 4 nights , and it was just terrible service ! Turn over service was never done if I would it call reception and when done it was very poorly clean with missing bathrobe and there was cosmetic items missing from my fiancé in the bathroom, I told 3 times the reception no one cared even the day I left I was told that a manager would speak with me but no one came and no me cared! And the last thing I got engaged in Amsterdam I even emailed the hotel they said we would send some amneties ! The day of departure we asked for a taxi and they called up a kind of private car that we didn’t ask for that made us pay double the money for the station! I am very disappointed with how things got managed it seemed like no one cares !

From the moment we checked in to the moment we left it was outstanding. Having arrived the day Amsterdams museums were ordered to shut down we ended up spending more time in the hotel than we’d planned. The staff were very welcoming and informative. The bar and spa both had a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere and with breakfast overlooking the canals it was just a wonderful place to stay. The central location from where we walked the city was the icing on the cake. I won’t stay anywhere else on my future visits to Amsterdam.

Do you know the scene from Home Alone 2 where Kevin has his hotel room filled with cakes?
That's how I feel here. All day long they drive by with a trolley filled with goodies. A welcome cocktail, lunch, dinner, a dream breakfast. And for the kids an Easter bunny to decorate and then eat themselves.
Since the horeca is closed, they converted the hotel room into a mini-restaurant. And also into an office, because I booked the work-ation package. Work with a touch of vacation.
I'm being pampered enormously here. I always ignored this hotel because it struck me as arrogant. That turns out to be completely unjustified. It's a warm blanket of genuine attention and the team wants nothing more than to pamper you. With extra thanks to Linda, Eef and Tarmo who do so with tremendous dedication.
This hotel is the only luxury large hotel in Amsterdam that is not part of an (international) chain. Therefore there is a free and very enthusiastic mentality. The entire ground floor has recently been renovated and that invites you to come and visit us again, even without an overnight stay. We are counting down!
