I visited Amsterdam in May 2011. The hotels price in Amsterdam was expensive, if near station, over Euro 100, but only 2 stars, If price is fair, it would be far away from station or city centre. Singel was located near Central Station (10 min walk) and at a quiet street along canal, it is easily found and with fair...

My boyfriend and I spent four days at The Singel hotel and it was a fantastic experience, very spacious room and the bathroom facilities were great. Everything was incredibly clean and the staff were very friendly. Having to leave your room key at reception is handy as no risk of losing the key, also the hotel has a lift. Also,...

For being a budget hotel,it's a great hotel directly on the canal. It is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is more then sufficient and very worth the price. The noises of the canal are a little loud at times but it is part of the fun. I'll be back if i'm in Amsterdam. Thank you...

I have been a frequent visitor to Amsterdam over the last 20 years or so and stayed at many hotels in that time and would have to say that this is in the best one or two. It is centrally located, very easy to find, the staff are very helpful and the room sparkling clean and perfectly adequate. Prices are...

We stayed three nights at this hotel and it was perfect for what we wanted. The room was not large, but had enough space for us. The bed was comfortable and the shower was big enough not to bash your elbows when washing. The location is the big bonus, as it is only a five minute walk from the station....

Excellent for price. Cute and cozy. Everything I wanted and needed after long trip. Room was clean, front desk helpful. Needed to crank up heater when arrived, but room temp was fine for sleeping. Construction in front not ideal, but a reality in Amsterdam for foreseeable future. Comfortable, but small mini twin beds. This is in a good location with...

Four of us arrived at the Singel on Tuesday afternoon for a short city break in this cosmopolitan city. The Singel Hotel is a few short minutes walk from the Central Rail Station and is at the Budget end of the market. The friendly receptionist made light work of completing the paperwork, issuing keycards, etc. She made sure we had...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
