You really couldn't ask for a better hotel. It was walking distance from everything but the museum district. The staff was amazing. We were expecting a friend visiting from Germany to stay with us later and she was much later. Every member of the staff was notified and when she arrived, they were very helpful. We also got an extra...

We stayed for 3 nights and most of our experience were satisfied with the warm welcome of the front desk staff , we were also greeted by the GM who can speak Indonesian . We stayed at the hotel in 2002 and 2004 .. We love the location as it is close to most amsterdam places of interest .. Certainly...

The hotel is perfectly situated in the busy square. It's a great location and central to all i wanted to do. Once there the staff is friendly and helpful and they will hail you a cab that will park on a nearby curb. From the airport TO the hotel our driver didn't know what to do and dropped us off...

Before staying at Swissotel, I was always under the impression that hotels around central part of city are overpriced and arrogant. Swissotel surprised me on all accounts. Located in the heart of Amsterdam, few hundred meters from the Central Train station, at Dam Square Swissotel was the right choice for my short one day stay. I was able to make...

When we arrived the room was not ready but the lady that checked us in was professional and welcoming. We were treated to an upgrade to a newly renovated room and we arrived to find a heart of rose petals on our bed and were treated to a sparkling wine for out anniversary! Such a lovely touch - It made...

We first stayed in this hotel in September 2013. It was such a great experience, we didn't consider staying anywhere but here when we returned to Amsterdam in August 2015. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. They were more than happy to provide local tips on things to see and do. Rooms were clean and good sized for a...

This is a fab little hotel that's easy to find straight down Damrak from Amsterdam Central train station. Easy to spot due to big Swiss flag flying outside and inside the reception ladies were so helpful and friendly checking us in and going out of their way to find a veggie restaurant not too far for an evening meal. Nothing...

Great stay, perfect location- on the Dam square. Me and my husband stayed over last March, it is the very best we could have found- next to everything important in the city- central station only by 10 min walking, Madame Tussauds, the museums, supermarkets, shopping centers and streets. The staff are so nice and polite, smiling and welcoming. Our room...

I stayed here for 1 night with my boyfriend as part of a 3 night P&0 Ferries mini cruise. We chose this hotel as it is just a few minutes walk from the train station where the coach drops you off. The location of this hotel cannot be beaten! It is on Dam Square, 5 minutes walk to the red...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
