a nice stay. cozy bedrooms. perfect for layover passengers or backpackers. We had a connecting flight so we just stayed for the night. The location is prime and the place has a nightclub and a bar. The hotel is centrally located and is accessible by foot from the central train station .

don't really have a bad word to say about the winston, it's a good price and the rooms are pretty good but what makes this place is the location and the bar/restaurant/smoking room downstairs. right in the middle of amsterdam, lovely staff, great food and deals on said food for guests and literally a 30 second walk from the bulldog...

We stayed in a six person room, which was very comfortable and was cleaned daily. Free breakfast was great, location was excellent as it was very central. It was in quite a noisy area and there is a bar/club downstairs so could be very loud, especially in the early hours of the morning, but if you're in Amsterdam to party...

Cons: insanely overpriced for a private room, reeks of tobacco smoke, bloody fingerprints in the bathroom (seriously wtf???), super loud (but they give you free earplugs), make you leave your key at reception every time you leave and sometimes leave you waiting 10+ minutes when you return just to get the key-this for very annoying especially if we were in...

Thank you very much for your constructive feedback. We are very sorry to read that our level of cleanliness was not on par during your stay with us, and we want to sincerely apologize for that. We will have a conversation with the cleaning manager, and will spend more time checking the rooms than we already did. Thanks again for...

Location was ideal; extremely close to Central Station and the Red Light District and situated on the side of the street closer to all the fast food place as well as a short walk from Dam Square. If you're not a fan of the Red Light District, the hostel itself is actually on a street parallel to the main part,...

Just visited with mates for a few days and this place is a good spot! The bar is social and the rooms are safe enough. It is right in the centre so your not far from anywhere. Would recommend for groups and solo travelers!

Stayed here on the 7th of February for 4 nights, although it is not a five star establishment, it gets 5 stars from me because it had everything I needed. I had been a customer at the bar downstairs numerous times and decided the next trip I was going to stay here and I'm glad I did, the rooms are...

Excellent location. Right in Dam Square. The bar was nice. The food was great. It was a better experience than we were expecting out of a hostel. The top floor with balcony was worth the extra money. The complimentary breakfast buffet was nice to start the day. We left early and walked the city every day. St Christophers is in...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
