AWFUL!! The hotel was very old, it had no elevator, it smells really bad and the cleaning service was terrible. It ruined my trip as I couldn't rest because i couldn't wait to leave the hotel. The bathroom had no shower. Just a hole on the floor near the toilet and it did not even work properly.

The only saving grace for this hotel is that it is for the budget conscious and a great location. A minute walk from the central of the red light district so it is still quiet enough that you can catch some sleep. Other than that, do not expect anything else. No lift. So good luck if you are carrying a...

Dear travellers, I've been at this hotel many times, this is my 2nd review about this top hotel: in fact usual I rent an accomodation here for the central position and the security of the hotel. Mostly workers of the hotel are very, very professional, frendly and very polite. In honesty speaking, I recommend this hotel to others travellers without...

I used to book this hotel for 2 nights and cancel the next day from venere.com But they charge me 115 Euro for free cancellation(which you can cancel without any fee) from my credit card. That money was for 1 night plus tax for 3 people. Is this my fault? I sent email to them but they never reply.

Small, cold and moldy room. Uncomfortable bed and poor breakfast. The hotel is very central and close to the station but that is all. Staff is unfriendly and never seen a smile or heard a "thank you" from them. Not recommended.

I went to Amsterdam for a fanfest and decided that I wanted to stay as close as possible to the centre. The hotel is in the middle of the 'Red-light' district and is an easy walk to the train station and the city centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was also very clean but rather small....

Can't complain, for the cost it was as expected. Location was great, our room were clean but could do with a little updating and space utilising better. The room our friends stayed in was a little strange as it was decorated really dark with LED blue lights! Ours was white and airy with lots of mirrors...buy hey when in Amsterdam!...

Stayed here for 1 night in june 2016. Hotel room was small, bathroom was small. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Cheap and cheerful but probably would stay again. Hotel is 5 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
