I think the people staying next door already mentioned what happened in another review. I'd left the shower room open and the steam triggered the fire alarm, which prompted angry knocks on my door and a hotel employee calling me an idiot (pro tip, if you're trying to insult me in Dutch choose a word that isn't identical to the... Definite advantage of this place is that is very close to city center, approx 10 minutes walk to Van Gogh or Rijksmuseum. However as a place is far from being 3 star hotel. We've been located in the basement, where my 2meters tall friend was barely able to stand straight up. Stairs down, well... nearly fell down, that's how narrow... More

Excellent location being close to tram and bus stops and walking distance to restaurants, but that was about all - reception service was good. The room was noisy inside - the creaking floor everywhere you stepped and out. - street noise and other room noise. The fire alarm went off because 1 of the guests had their shower door open... This hotel had poor dirty rooms and was very expensive for what it was. The staff were friendly and welcoming enough but that does not make up for the lack of quality. This hotel was meant to be a 3 star hotel but honestly it was more like one star. The room,s were dirty and very expensive. The hotel was... More

My friend booked us this hotel for my birthday weekend. Needless to say, she won't be ever again. We got to the hotel around 10am, yes I know we were early so we asked if we could leave our luggage, "by the computer" was our response. No security at all. As we went back to the reception to ask her... More

I stayed 4 nights in Sander Hotel in Amsterdam. It can not be called a Hotel. The only acceptable things about this hotel is its location and very friendly staff. The rooms are unbelievably small with no refrigerator, hair dryer, shampoo and anything else that a hotel should have. Although we had made hotel reservation by internet and had paid... More

We stayed as a family of 4 in 1 hotel room and we were quiet satisfied on how the condition were of the hotel. The location is great. It is very easy to get around with the tramp (strassenbahn) and the fact that people are fluent in englisch and german most of the times makes everything that much easier. We... More

We bought a Groupon voucher for 2 nights double bedroom. This place shouldn't be called a hotel, it's a HOSTEL. No blow dryer, no shampoo, conditioner, iron.. nothing like that! Breakfast is a cheap plate with 2 slices of bread and come juice/coffee/tea. cheap choice of cheese, salami or chicken to put on your bread slices. Big big no no... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
