As noted in my title of this review I have stayed at Hotel Aalders before and I am happy to report that my stay was quite good,as always. In my opinion there are many positives about this hotel such as the quiet residential neighborhood, the close proximity to restaurants, shopping and the tram service, and the friendliness and helpfulness of its...

We chose the Aalders Hotel from the many many listed based on the excellent reviews and the location, near 3 major museums and multiple tram lines. We were there for 10 days. The staff was outstanding and always went the extra mile for us. We felt we developed some real friendships with them. Breakfasts were excellent. Rooms fine. (Bring your...

Located a block and a half from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Plaza (not so wonderful when there's a soccer party going on, but perfect otherwise). Room was very small, bathroom minuscule, too warm; but very quiet and clean and there was a fan. Very nice breakfast in a lovely room but spendy: twelve euros fifty if you don't...

A friend and I stayed here for 5 nights in January. I wish we had paid up for a better hotel. This hotel is NOT worth the price, even at cut rate price. The rooms are small, the Hotel does not stock soaps and other toiletries other than this awful pink soap that comes out of a dispenser. The Hotel...

On a quiet, upscale street just one block from the Van Gogh museum (and a tram stop) and a few hundred meters from the Rijks museum. About a 10-15 minute walk from the de Pijp Albert Cuyp market and surrounding restaurants and bars. The stairs are amazing (and narrow and steep), but there is a lift as well. The entire...

Situated in a quiet street in the museum district, the hotel is perfectly placed to explore the city. Leidserplein is only a five minute walk away, indeed all spots can be reached on foot, but a tram stop is only 300m from the hotel from where you can travel into the city centre. My room was a small single, but...

Nice small hotel in the Museum Quarter. Comfortable beds, with view of small courtyard with birds singing in the morning. Stairs were a little steep (there is a lift) and I thought it was a little pricey, but that's just Amsterdam. Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient for visiting the terrific art museums. Near the tram lines and the canal...

All that and it met our wishes. It is on very quiet street with no through traffic. Close to Van Gogh, municipal and Rijks museum. Near the Concert Hall and the theater for Opera and plays. Near Leidse Plein and many restaurants. So we do not see any reason to give it less than 5*.

Other visitors have hit the high points: clean and comfortable rooms -- the level of cleanliness is quite extraordinary: one had the feeling that if a speck of dust were caught in a beam of sunlight in your room there would be three housekeepers dispatched to catch it before it hit the floor -- quiet and civilized public areas, highly...

Very easy to connect to/from the hotel with the Airport express bus stopping just 2 blocks away by the Rijksmuseum. Depends on where you plan to spend your time in Amsterdam if the location is great or not. I walked everywhere, love to walk in cities. It's a long walk to the central station, Jordaan, red light district etc so...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
