This is a small hotel, located near the Museumsplein in Amsterdam. The hotel is on a quiet, mainly residential street, and is about 2 or 3 mins walk to the nearest tram stop. It took me about 20mins to get to the hotel from Centraal Station. The hotel is quite old fashioned - definitely a "classic" Dutch style. The receptionist...

We loved the location, being walking distance to the Riks and Van Gogh museums. Also a big plus, is that the hotel is located only a block from the #197 bus from the airport and it only costs 5 euros. Very convenient! Additionally, the hotel was close by to numerous restaurants and shops (although the hotel itself, is located on...

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Nice to have wifi and breakfast included. We enjoyed both the breakfast and lobby bar. Great location for easy access to the museums and transportation. If the weather was a little warmer we would have taken advantage of the hotel bikes. Happy with our choice.

The Hotel Aalder is anything not luxurious but is perfectly adequate for a busy sight-seeing stay. The location could not be better if you want to visit the museums. Thre Rieksmuseum is about a block an a half away, the Van Gogh the same distance. The tram stop was about a block away so we could get to anywhere else...

Perfect location for a weekend away to visit the museums The included continental breakfast was enough to keep you going well into the day. The room was a good size and was clean and modern with a comfortable bed. The shuttle bus N197 from the airport was easy to catch and very close to the hotel

Hotel Aalders is has been in the same family for generations...I know, because I have been staying there through at least three of them....This is a place where you will always receive a smile from the staff, a fine room, and a great breakfast before you head out to visit the museums, which are just footsteps away! I always call...

We had a short last minute trip to Amsterdam. This quaint old style hotel was literally across the road and a 2 minute walk from the bus/tram stop. We stated in room25A, small but adequate room overlooking a back garden, slept like a baby. The staff were so friendly, chatty and helpful. Breakfast consisted of juices, cereals, lots of bread/pastries,...

I stayed here for several days while visiting Amsterdam for both business and pleasure. The room I got on an upper floor was spacious (although the bathroom was cramped), with a pleasant balcony overlooking the garden in the back of the hotel. Like many Amsterdam properties, there was a steep and twisting staircase up from the ground floor (plus an...

Good hotel, good breakfast, good location, good price. Our room was very small, with no place for storing/putting our stuff. I Assume Aalders is good value for the money in Amsterdam. Very close to the tram/busstop where you also can take the express airportbus :)

We booked this hotel based on the excellent reviews on this site, and were not disappointed. The hotel is old (as is everything in the heart of Amsterdam) but modern, clean and charming. The staff is uniformly excellent (all family members, perhaps?), friendly and helpful. The included breakfast is great, lots of typical northern European items like cheese and meat,...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
