Dirty. Breakfast is eggs, toast and some dodgy looking spread. Stayed in a 20 bed dorm with two toilets and two showers. Beds were squeaky and tough to get into. The only way to describe the stairs in the place is dangerous. The atmosphere downstairs is good at night, although you're only allowed drink your own spirits, beer must be... More

I've stayed at bobs twice both in August 2 years apart and had good times on both occasions. Obviously the accommodation is basic and the showers weren't amazing (take flip flops) but the beds have got to be the comfiest I've ever slept on. Like a cloud. The second time i went we were in a room of 16 beds... More

The location is very good, only a 5 minute walk from the train station or city centre. As the city is very expensive the hostel is a good place to smoke and chill for free while meeting new people. The rooms are clean and basic. Breakfast is poor and definitely not good value for money. I wouldn't recommend Bobs to... More

The whole place was very dirty, breakfast wasn't much, just and egg and two pieces of bread. The rooms weren't pleasant. 20 people squeezed into a room with just two showers, that flooded everytime someone showered and two toilets. Location was the only real positive, it was very close to everything

It's good if you're going with friends and don't really care where you are sleeping, if not I'd rather try anything else. The breakfast was almost inexistent (a hard boiled egg and a toast) but the staff was friendly and the common area was nice. Shortly, go there if you are willing to have fun and don't care to sleep... More

I recently stayed at Bob's Youth Hostel during my interrailing trip. We booked fairly cheap hostels as we were on a budget. The hostel is situated in a good location...just a short walk from the train station and damrak (main street). When we arrived at the reception we felt a bit wary. It is underground and quite dark with many... More

We spent minimal time in the hostel itself - in fact, only slept there. We didn't buy food at the hostel, or even shower there (wear flip-flops if you dare use this communal shower). The one, and really only, upside to this place was that the beds were extremely comfortable. We may have lucked out on a specific room, but... More

At first arrival, hostel seemed very dark and dinghy after walking into Hazey reception, and rooms were not very clean. However the Hostel ended up being great for socialising and everyone in the hostel really came together at night, and as my friends and I were travelling that was exactly what we wanted. Hostel was average, but experience was great!

I am staying in here right now, this place is terrible, the place is discusting, when you walk into the reception, the whole place already smells like weed and smoke. Ppl literally just smoke in the lobby area. What's worst is that everything is super dirty, as if they never scrub the place. The whole place looks like it hasn't... More

This place is ok if you just want to rest your head for the night. The beds are ok, we stayed in the 20 room dorm, I didn't see some of the people I was rooming with at all, for the whole 5 nights I was there, which is strange. Its a good place to meet fellow travellers but the... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
