We had not the chance to stay in a room with canal view, but we paid a lot of money for a hotel without elevator, to a room without air conditioning, carpets, refrigerator, hairdryer, with metal lockers. The positive thing was great location only!

My adult daughter and I stayed here for three nights and can't fault it. We had a lovely room with a canal view, the beds are super comfy with very cosy duvets and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast buffet with huge choice. We really like the location on the Amstel as it was quieter than being right in...

Gorgeous little hotel, just a short walk to the city centre. The rooms are lovely and modern. We got a free upgrade to a room right at the front with a view of the canal which was nice and unexpected. The reception were really friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. Will definitely recommend!

We stayed here for three nights, we arrived early a nice receptionist (any of the receptionist that we dealt with we found friendly and helpful) allowed us to leave our bags and made us a nice cup of coffee before we set off with our sightseeing. Rembrandt sq is about a 7 min walk along the canal, Dam square about...

My wife and I stayed at this most wonderful hotel in early March, 2017. It is listed as "3-star" but deserves to be rated higher. We stayed in a lovely room that overlooked a canal and had a balcony, had breakfast included (and what a breakfast offering it was, plenty of variety and very good food) and the hotel had...

We wanted to stay in a central location, with a canal view, for a romantic stay. Unfortunately, the room did have a view, but the place looked like a hospital or a dorm room: cold white tiles, and cheap badly assorted furniture including a grey metal office closet. Also, we came with luggage and found out that even staying on...

We had a lovely room with a canal view. Yes, there are no lifts, but this is clearly stated on the hotel website. The staff were courteous and attentive with a good knowledge of the area. The only downside is no tea making facilities in the rooms, however we found out on our penulitimate day that you can ask for...

I've stayed at this hotel twice now and couldn't say a bad word about it! the location in which the hotel is based is quiet and has a great view of the canal. i recently stayed there for a night with a friend and chose to stay in the canal view which lived up to its name as there is...

Nice hotel, clean rooms and good breakfast (you will def. find something for your taste). Great location, it's very nice and quite, away from the touristy hustle and bustle, but still walking distance from the main attractions and city center. Also the metro/tram station is around the corner. Good value for the money

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
