Nice hostel. Its well located, you can pretty much go anywhere from there. The recepcionist was nice to our group as we arrived a few hours before scheduled and let us in to rest. The room was small but good enough.

I stayed in a 10 bed dorm where my friends and I rented out the whole room. The room was equipped with lockers and had two Ensuite bathrooms. Some of the beds were really close together which could have been awkward had we not known each other. And some of the mattresses were really low so you sunk right to...

Visiting Amsterdam wouldn't be complete without visiting a coffee shop, and the Bulldog brand has really done well at saturating the market and making a name for itself. The Bulldog coffee shops are well established and reliable, you know it'll be a safe and comfortable environment with attentive staff who are happy to help! The environment is lively and full...

If you are used to travelling with your friends through Europe, you should at least stay once at Bulldog. It's a Amsterdam full experience! Good pub inside, a coffee-shop side-by-side, located at the heart of the Red Light District! The room are not so clean, but they are big and the breakfast is ok. If you are not travelling for...

Going there since seven years, The Bulldog Hotel in Amsterdam is still one of my favourite. Not because of their rooms, as these are small (common in AMS) and basic. Not because of the breakfast, which is boring. I love the place because of the vibe, the location, the friendly staff and their laid back hotel lounge, where you can...

We had discussed many options for making breakfast less boring; table dancers, magicians, contortionists, even a petting zoo! . But the logistics of this at 0730 in the morning proved too much to overcome. so in the end , breakfast remained somewhat less exciting than the rest of the day ;) Thank you for the kind words mate. We will...

I booked a room for myself for 3 nights which came to roughly €300. This hotel is in a superb location. The ground floor is always open even when the city is all closed down in the early hours of the morning. You can smoke and drink into the AM listening to great music they play and there's pool table....

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
