-This was more or less the cheapest hotel we could find in Amsterdam at the time we booked (around a month before our four night stay over the Whitsun weekend.) However it turned out to be very good value and certainly contributed to an excellent first impression of the city for me, and an enjoyable return for my boyfriend. Quite...

Because this hotel was one of the least expensive ones I looked at for the weekend we were in Amsterdam, I didn't know what to expect when we got there. We were very pleasantly surprised, however. The hotel is lovely and our room was fantastic. We were in a corner room upstairs and had 3 windows. Sitting up from our...

This was my second time in a year visiting Amsterdam- this time with my Hubby & Dad visiting from the USA. We originally had tried to book a couple nights during the popular "Queens Day" celebrations, but sadly, the hotel was booked up, so we settled for the Sun/Mon preceding the festivities. The hotel was just as I remembered and...

OK given that we didn't want to spend much for a weekend trip in this expensive city. Location is its best attribute - right next to Van Gogh and Rijks and well connected with trams 2 and 5, but the rest is just marginal. Most rooms come without private bathroom so have to share with the rooms on the floor.......

It was a perfect hotel for me regarding location, price, service, cleanliness...but maybe not for everyone. The staff at reception was friendly and helpful, the room was immaculately clean though not new. I booked a single room with shared bathroom and paid 45 euros for a night, it was one of the low budget accomodation in Amsterdam. A simple breakfast...

Interesting hotel with incredibly steep staircase. All a little quirky with unusual furniture and style. Breakfast just fine. Price represented good value for money. Owner fine on advising places to visit etc. but on our leaving day we had to depart at 8.00 a.m. and breakfast was at 8.30. On asking if we could have anything (having paid in advance...

My friend and I got back yesterday from a 3 day stay in Amsterdam. We booked at Museumzicht due to the rave reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. Yes, the stairs are VERY steep so pack lightly or work on those biceps to hoik the luggage up the stairs. But when you get to the top, you will...

For the six days that we spent in Amsterdam, the Hotel Museumzicht became our base for exploring the city. The delicious morning breakfast was served in a community room with a wonderful view, inside and out. The unique decorations of the hotel have a museum quality of their own. Our room was warm and comfortable as snow was falling outside....

I stayed at this hotel for a week in October. I was charmed by the owner, the small room (with a view), and the wonderful breakfasts with a toaster at the tables in the lovely breakfast room overlooking the Museumplein. As a solo-woman traveler, new to Amsterdam, I was thankful for the tips. The location was perfect, near the Film...

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Museumzicht and look forward to returning there on my next visit to Amsterdam. I didn't expect to stop in Amsterdam this trip, and called the hotel looking for an inexpensive single room at the last minute. The owner (?) was very helpful over the phone and helped me save a few more Euros by...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
