I recently said at Hotel Nicolaas Witsen for 5 nights and could not have been happier. The price is lower then most hotels I found in Amsterdam and rivaling hostels without being a hostel. The hotel is in a great location if you are looking...More
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable with many outlets to recharge phones, etc. Front desk was helpful with directions, advice and maps. The location was good: #10 tram was a short walk and the Richt Museum a 10 minute walk.
The best part about this place is that it's located not too far from anything, and is on a quiet street right next to one of the canals, with easy access to nearby restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops.
However, the rooms were very small, the...More
We were 5 people staying 5 nights at Nicolaas Witsen Hotel. We had two double rooms next to each other, with one extra bed in one of the rooms. The rooms are quite small but if you just want to have a comfortable, clean and...More
I had a few days it's was really amazing... Nice zone not to far from the central. Close to the museums if you rent the bike will be totally different because you can do whatever you like.

The #4 Tram takes you to the station about two blocks from the hotel. We pulled our luggage no issue. If you email or phone the front desk they will give you the name of the stop. I forget it sorry... Only about a ten minute tram ride. You catch it right out front of Amsterdam Centraal. Before getting on the tram walk across the tracks to the buildings you will see there. Visitor's centre and transportation centre. We purchased a four day pass for unlimited rides. Best Value.

We took the connexxion 197 bus (google bus197 ) You can catch it right at the airport islands. It drops you off within about 7 blocks of the hotel at the Rijkysmuseum stop. If you don't want to walk that far you can take the tram (Numbers 7 or 10) from the Rijksmuseum stop to the Fredricksplein stop and walk 2 blocks to the hotel. I think it was 9 euros round trip for the bus and we had a iamsterdam card for the trams.
