I've got mixed feelings about this hotel. After checking in we have been put into room 04 which is located in the basement. Omg 😲 it was a shock to us that after paying €500 for 3 nights we were placed into a room with toilet tiles on the wall behind tv. Shower without any curtain and window so high...

Myself, my partners and two friends stayed at this hotel in feb. We stayed Monday to Friday. We had a very early flight and although check in is 2pm we were allowed to check on at 9am! The staff were beyond lovely! They said hello every time we passed and always said have a nice day, they were also very...

Came here for a weekend in January. The location could not be better! You are halfway between Dam Square and the Heineken experience! The red light district is only about 10 minutes walk away too. The hotel staff were extremely accommodating and very useful when needed. Breakfast was mediocre, but it was included in our price so I couldn't really...

Basic hotel , staff are very friendly and welcoming , perfect location in the middle of everything , open 24 hours which is convenient but some guests arrive home late at all hours of the morning and can be loud , which was the only bad thing but is not the hotels fault.

Spend a night at this hotel. The check in was efficient and friendly but this is clearly a tourist hotel. The elevator is slow but necessary because the stairs are steep and plentiful. The rooms are dated and small but have everything you need. The shower is old and the hot-cold shower controls take a bit of time to setup...

Rooms were clean, quite spacious an9d beds were comfy. Staff were so helpful, great location, close to everything. Only fault, rooms were a little cold. Will definitely stay here again for its location, its practically on dam square, close to shops and tram is outside.

Stayed here in November and it was fantastic. The location is perfect for all attractions and a 2min walk to Dam Square. The rooms were basic but comfortable and all staff were all very friendly. Breakfast is nice but very repetitive. Perfect trip away and we will definitely be back.

Short walk from the train station and perfectly located near restaurants, shopping etc We had a triple room with 3 real beds and still had good space so we were really happy with the room except it was incredibly hot! We couldn't understand why everyone was propping their room doors open but we soon realised. We paid £151.50 for the...

Location is good, the bad points are personal opinions and people may not agree with them, 1) no coffee to tea making facilities 2) matteress a bit hard. And that's it everything else was fine. A nice clean room, English tv (bbc1 & 2) a good selection at breakfast (served until 10.30am) and friendly staff.

The hotel is central to everything - station 10 mins flat walk, dam square 5 mins walk, canal 2 mins walk. Room was adequate, nothing special, just a very basic room, very spacious and really really high ceilings!! Breakfast was down spiral stairs in basement - self service, again basic but adequate. The downside was the noise - obviously this...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
