Now known as Bones and Co, I first went here in 2014. There's only a few places I've found in Amsterdam where you can have an alcoholic drink, smoke AND be able to hear the person next to you. There's a lot of places that have smoking areas and sell alcohol but they're all too loud or too intense. As...

Stayed here twice now, hunted it out because we wanted a smoking room which was close to everything. Really enjoyed both stays here, asked for the Arabian nights room the second time when we booked because it was our anniversary and they confirmed everything no problems at all. Happy hours great at the bar but we never stayed at the...

Great bar, really friendly staff. Drinks well mixed, and although I didn't have any, the food looked delicious. Sitting in the window watching life roll past was a great way to spend a few hours. It's connected to the hotel which mates it very close to stagger to your bed when you're done.

Situated very close to Amsterdam Central station, in RLD and near Dam Square. Staff is good, breakfast was awesome, but rooms are very very small. It's like you enter in the room, get on the bed and its over. And very highly priced for such a small room.

Great rooms, great location. Street view room was fantastic big opening window where you can sit and watch Amsterdam pass by! Great bar downstairs and super friendly staff. Could not recommend higher. I've stayed in Amsterdam a few times and greenhouse effect rates the highest and I would return here every time.

The atmosphere is great and they play great music, but mostly the staff here is amazing. They have great knowledge of their beer selection and are very courteous. They went out of my way to help me as a customer. I Highly recommend this bar, I will be back tomorrow. Five stars!

They have these amazing HUGE apartments located in the heart of the red light district. The owner is so friendly and so are the staff. It was so good that We wanted to stay longer but it was full. Great value for money as well. Definitely the place to be for a exciting trip in Amsterdam

I have stayed in the Greenhouse Effect apartments on three separate trips to Amsterdam and have never been disappointed. Each apartment has it's own theme/decor and are always very clean and central. Some of the apartments have great views. The only bad thing about the Greenhouse effect is that it books out quite far in advance. Would highly recommend.

I really liked my stay at the Greenhouse Effect. It's a modest priced hotel located in a renovated Dutch home where the ground floor serves as a bar on the south side and a coffeeshop on the north side. The hotel portion is situated in the upper floors with themed rooms. I'd reserved the loft room on the top floor...

Stayed for 2 nights. Selected this place based on location and availability, right in the action, everything is fairly close by (Central station, Red Light, Coffee Shops, restaurants) Lady who checked me in was very friendly, Unfortunately i had heavy luggage and she was kind enough to allow me to store my heaviest luggage in their compartment which saved me...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
