You can be suspicious when you are asked to pay on arrival. One night and you would leave. Steep stairs. No reception area. No facilities in room. Tiny dingy rooms. This is like a backpacker hotel Ina third world. Do not pay any money for this dreadful dump. You have been warned. Look at other reviews, I wish I had...

This hotel is very very expensive we paid £160 a night for a basic room in a basement . There are no communal areas at all . A very dingy old fashioned reception is the first thing that greats you . Then you pay up front in reception before seeing your room . Then dirty fire doors are opened to...

This place was dirty, disorganized, and Impolite. I have travelled a lot and in many countries and Hotel Plantage is One of the worst hotels I've ever seen. Good location though, which did not make up for the awfulness of everything else.

I cant believe that we had to pay over 400 eur for two nights there - at the most rundown hotel I have ever seen in EU. The wall print was destroyed and the floor is dirty. There are several old pillows and mattresses on the way. The bathroom smells badly and its located under the odd shape part of...

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in, dirty cluttered entrance up very steep staircase. Room extremely basic, blinds didn't work, dingy, shabby. Realise only 2 stars and booked in an emergency but am extremely surprised that any company would have this establishment on their books, let alone promoteit for customers to use. Very disturbing altercation during the night, loud...

We booked the small attic room with two twin beds (the trip was about me and my brother). The room was nice, spacious with two pretty windows on the rooftop. The bathroom was en suite, small but it had everything. The only downside was that the bathroom smelled really bad and we had to keep it closed during our stay....

Poor facility & over priced. We were staying in the Attic room on the top. The room is bit of smelly and the bed was not comfortable. The wall was pretty thin that we can hear your neighbor. In the morning you could hear the train passing by as well. However staff there were friendly

The employee are kind and handsome, but the hotel is pretty old, the pictures are better than reality. Very good position, close to the center and good service of public transportation. The price is absurd compared with quality. Mattresses are absolutely uncomfortable. Overall It's not a bad hotel, but it needs a lot of improvement, in particular if they apply...

Hotel position is really great. Receptionists are very kind. Rooms are clean and confortable. It's possible to rent bikes at a cheap price. I recommend it to all sort of compagnies:couples, families and friends. The breakfast is not avaiable but there is a nice bar just next to the hotel.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
