Two traditional Dutch houses converted into a hotel. Stairs to room are extremely steep, no lift and no assistance with luggage. We had a large triple room with a good view overlooking the canal (Room number 22). Ensuite shower room was small but adequate with a hair-drier. There was a kettle, mugs and teaspoons in room but no tea /...

Good hotel, in a nice location not far from the main train station or amsterdam square. the decour was typical of amsterdam, slightly dated and a little quirky but comfortable and perfectly acceptable for the price. staff were friendly and we didnt hear a peep from the other people staying there. the resident dog was a epitome of the hotel...

Basic place to stay without any trimmings. A boarding house with a hotel sign above it. We were stuffed after walking up the stairs with little luggage so I feel sorry for anyone with a large bag or bags. I saw no signs of physical assistance available but certainly got the house rules. In the room we had a fan,...

Like they say, it is a three star hotel in a five star location. Awesome location and staff on site, as they were all very friendly. My friend and I are two young women and we felt very safe in the area and at the hotel. It was the most expensive hotel of all, and it had a bit of...

Hotel greeting is a long stair case climb to your room (no assistance offered ) as no elevator is available which is typical of Amsterdam. Room was large, good heating, a very small tv 35cm, a jug but no coffee, tea , sugar supplied. Would I use this hotel again ? No, not cheap either, no wifi but ladies if...

I had very few options first week in May but lucked out with Hotel Des Arts. A quick trip of 4 nights had me centered (maybe?) between the train station (Amsterdam Centraal) and the museums and sites I wanted to visit. Everything was a walkable distance and the hotel looks out onto a canal. The staff was really nice, breakfast...

Great locations, rooms clean although a bit dated. We went for my daughters 18th and the staff were helpful and friendly. It is right by the flower market, 10 minutes form bars, resturants and nightclubs, 2 mintues from lots of shops, 25 minutes from the anne frank museum, dam square and red light district. Is situated on the canal and...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
