Quite good value - great location - will probably return there next year ! Rooms tiny, sparse, cramped and very limited in amenities ... but this is the same with most 3 star hotels in central Amsterdam. Breakfast - ok - adequate ... no more Staff very friendly (well most of them ... but that's life - right?)

Lovely reception staff, clean and centrally located. Unfortunately, on our 1st morning after staying, €40 was taken out of my jeans pocket by housekeeping staff. I spoke to him directly and he said he found €20 on the floor of my room and reported it to reception staff and I checked, he did do this, so am sure he's a...

I have actually stayed here twice, purely based on price and location. Amsterdam hotels are usually very expensive so this appears like a good option, but having stayed twice I really wouldn't again. The rooms are small and cramped, outdated and poor facilities. The only good aspect I can report is that the front desk staff are cheerful 24/7, however...

We stayed at the suite of Hotel de Koopermoolen and it was fantastic! The hotel is centrally located - walking distance to everything! The reception staff were so nice and helpful. The lift is very small though that it can fit 2 people with no luggage max! The suite is located on the 5th floor and once you go through...

Having difficulty going up stairs, then this is not the hotel for you.. We stayed in an apartment (9)..I had to come down the steep stairs on my bottom! Sleeping was difficult due to revellers shouting all night.. Then when it did go quiet (about 4a.m), then the utilities kicked in! (I.e--laundry/bin men etc etc)..so, if you need your beauty...

We were a group of friends (5) and we had an apartment which consisted of two bedrooms with several beds in each room and a kitchen/lounge. To get to the apartment (kitchen/lounge) is a VERY steep staircase and also another very steep curved staircase to get to the bedrooms (we left out suitcases in the lounge as we were too...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
