We just returned from a quick city break in Amsterdam. The hotel is ideally in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the city, Small but quirky rooms offer basic accommodation with a great view of the city streets. The hotel was perfect for our quick trip, and we where never more than 10 mins from the main sight...

When you pay £40 a night per person, only get one key card for a room between 5 of you, have no aircon in a room with one window, little or no wifi because they get you to connect to the hotel's next door, tiny towels provided that are not refreshed every day, no private bathroom (one toilet shared between...

The location of the hotel more than perfect! 5 mins from the Central station, within the real center of Amsterdam. We've got the right information from staff upon our arrival. :-) When we stepped into the room, we were aggravated. We thought from the pictures that the bathroom would be a part of our room, but it was on the...

The hotel is right in the heart of the bar and red light district...5 minutes walking distance from the train station. Bars and restaurants all around, the whole place smelled like one giant joint, so if you are here to party, it's perfect. Yes, the stairs are very steep...our room was on the 3rd floor and I wouldn't want to go...

Myself and two friends stayed in the quadruple room at the start of Feb for two nights and have to say it suited us perfect. The room had a set of bunks and two single beds that could be pushed together. Room was clean and tidy with a seating area and telly beside the window. Very cosy which was great...

Friend of mine made the booking for it's location and breakfast inclusive. The hotel is located near central station station (on the right between where you can see a building with the word "God loves you" & Pancake shop), just behind the 1st row of shops. De mallemoolen does not have it's own reception, therefore you have to go to Hotel...

10/10 location, room 4 is a quad room with a ensuite (only one in hotel) 2 single beds that can be made into a double and bunkeds. One tip don't leave any food or wrappers in room as you are in Amsterdam mice are inevitable. SMOKING FRIENDLY!!!!

Good points - perfect location, literally every is on your door step. Breakfast is pretty basic, though still no negatives. Lovely staff/service and everything you need is provided, smoking is allowed in the rooms. Bad points - stairs are so steep, shared toilet downstairs/upstairs which makes it a little inconvenient. Overall, good value for money and would go back here!...

First night in property OK, yeah the stairs can be a bit of an issue as they are the steepest I have seen yet and even my little size 4 feet couldn't fit on the step :) but the bed was comfy and there was a TV with good selection and location perfect BUT the radiator was broken and the...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
