Very basic. No bed changes while you stay. This is a backpackers hostel with bunk beds and lockers. Main points of concern are: 1) Our window got smashed from Warmeostraat side, and the Asian owners did not want to clean it up till the morning. However, a dark member of staff who had been working there for some time made...

Rocked up in Amsterdam with no where to stay and read some reviews on tripadvisor about st Christophers inn, they said 42 euro per night so we went down the street to white tulip and stayed 3 nights for 48€. Hostel wasn't the cleanest but you get a great location, cheap food at the bar and cheap rooms

The rooms were dirty, the staff was mixed, the Italian guy Sam is very nice and helpful, the blonde guy however is extremely rude. I can only assume his parents own the hostel or something because there is now way I would let my staff get away with being so bratty. There is very loud bells early in the morning,...

If you like the smell of vomit then stay here. If you like the smell of rotten eggs then stay here. If you have no need for sleep and appreciate staff who have no idea what they are doing then stay here! The location is the only decent thing about this hostel. I have stayed in hostels all around the...

A group of 12 of us stayed here, which was the perfect amount for one of the rooms in this hostel, the facilities were adequate and there was no waiting for showers. The price of Food and Drink in the touristy areas of Amsterdam was expensive so it was welcomed to get 20% off the Hostel bar and restaurant as...

I Recently stopped here with a group of friends we had a 10 bed private room and it was just what we needed, the main thing about this hotel I liked is it's clean both the rooms and bathroom were cleaned everyday. Although I doubt I would stay here as a couple! The bar downstairs was just the job the...

Initially we read reviews and decided this was the place to be. We where aware it was next to a church and the bells ring. Now we paid for a 2 person room. The room was on the top floor and tiny, like could barely fit your bags. There was a window which wAs locked and was only open 1cm....

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
