Hotel Synopsis is in a great location, very central so you are able to walk everywhere. We had the garden room - although it was too wet to ever go out into the garden, we at least got to see greenery from the window. The bed was the most comfortable we slept in in the 7 weeks we were travelling...

Great location by quiet canal, impressive use of space in exceptionally well-equipped and comfortable room, friendly and knowledgeable host, superb breakfast served in the cost kitchen, sure the garden is a real gem in the summer. Boutique B&B at its very best.

If you are looking for a quiet place away from the hubbub but close to major attractions , this is the place! Large rooms (only two are !), confort and amenities that make you feel very good. Choose to make your breakfast at Mrs. Elizabeth, a perfect host who will be worth every minute in the city cuisine.

Best place to stay in Amsterdam. Wonderful, convenient location. Tranquil private home with boutique rooms close to Hermitage, Hortus Botanicus, Waterlooplein, Skinny bridge and almost at junction of Keizergracht and the Amstel. Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.

“Any rooms are good, but room 2 has a small separate table in the garden!”

“Only two rooms - front was basement but light and quiet, room 2 probably a better bet as leads on to garden and is away from the road.”

“We had a groundfloor room at the back ( No.2 ) , opening onto the garden - though sadly it was too cold to sit out there ! It was incredibly quiet and peaceful and the bed and bathroom were both superb.”
