Very nice staff that work there which made our trip all the more enjoyable, me and 2 friends went for 2 nights and had a 3 bed room, there was a bit of dirt here and there but the beds were extremely comfortable, also the hotel is dead in the centre next to everything which is very handy. Would book...

Stayed and was on the canal side, view like no other. I initially booked in here thinking a Hotel in Amsterdam, but the window opened with the main departing tourist boats outside. The front of the hotel, in the Red Light District, a surprise to my wife and I, loved it. By day the streets are touristy, by night the...

Myself and 2 friends stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of March and what a great little hotel. The rooms are compact but clean. Nice bar downstairs which closes at 12:30 so can be noisey until that time. Would definitely stay again.

Easy hotel to find, couple of minutes walk from central train station. Fab location and within walking distance of everything. Our room was on the 2nd floor so no noise from the bar below.. however we could hear every footstep from the room above us. The bed was smaller then a double but did the job for us as was...

The room was tiny, but that wasn't the problem. We spent all day visiting the city so we didn't plan to stay long in the room anyway. However, the room was also very dirty and that was super annoying. The sheets and the towels had hair and stains even if it looked like they were being changed daily. We didn't...

We stayed here in December 2016, booked a twin room with a shared bathroom. before we arrived we read some pretty worrying reviews of this hotel and were dreading seeing what we had let ourselves in for. we checked in at the pub and were given directions to a building across the road. here we found our room on the...

I chose this hotel just because the very central location and the bargain price. However, I left it after two nights because really unconfortable. To get your room you must enter a pub that gives you the key. From a little dreary door you joing the stairs leading you to the room. The corridors are dirty and full of old...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
