You might have seen that the Marnix Hotel was one on the cheapest places in the city center : let me tell you there is a reason for that. Everything else was awful! Walls are very thin and our neigbours were very loud. Just in front of our door, there was can dispenser that made a terrible noise all night...

Hotel was nice for what we paid for it, down part was there is no elevator so you need to take the stairs everytime you go to your room which can be a bit annoying especially for carrying luggage, also the tv wasn't working. Receptionists were really nice and helpful when we had any questions or were needing help.

Paid an absurd amount for a room that was the size of a closet with 3 beds stuffed inside. Not even enough room for luggage to be stored inside the room. Windows didn't close fully so there was a cold draft all night. Non bathroom or shower in the room, it was community style. Overall this would barely pass for...

You get what you pay for. Honest price for a simple hotel. Clean rooms, and a clean bathroom. Bed was OK. Room was very small, but if you are just looking for a place to rest after a very long day walking around the city, this is a good deal.

I thought the hotel would better be described as an hostel then my expectations would have been a bit lower. The staff were all great, friendly and helpful and the place was ideally situated for our purpose for visiting Amsterdam. if a bit of TLC was applied the hotel it would have been OK for the price we paid. Saying...

We had a private twin room which was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Great location to go out and explore the centre of Amsterdam and literally a 30 second walk from the square which has lots of great bars and restaurants. Staff were always very friendly and helpful. We are planning to stay again next year.

The room was small and compact with a walk in shower at the end. Very basic but was pretty much what you expect from a budget hotel, somewhere warm and reasonable comfortable for two people to sleep. It was also handy for the Melkweg.

The room was really small we were 4 persons plus our laggages, we were barely fit the room. The beds were really narrow and the up bed was dangerous to fall. There were no stairs, so we were climbing to the up bed. But the sheets were clean. It was really warm and we had our own bathroom which was...

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
