The Hotel is good enough to sleep in. There is just the necessary, nothing more and the WiFi connections does not work always. Anyway is really close to a nice area of Amsterdam. Both day and night life!

Great location in Amsterdam with very comfortable beds. The hostel also rents bikes for €12 for the whole day which is highly recommended to do. It's not the cleanest spot but it was grand for 10 lads.

I stayed here for 1 night/day with a friend. Toilet flush button wasn't attached, so we had to carefully push a stick. Didn't use the showers so can't say. No lifts, we was on third floor. Oops if there are more floors! Basically, you get what you pay for. It's not a 5 star hotel, it's cheap and cheerful which...

Very good location right in the center but the hotel was plagued by cockroaches. The shared shower was stuck and the dirty water covered the feet. In my room in one night I got to kill five cockroaches. I recommend another more hygienic place

The room was very very small, may be 2 m x 3 m, the beds very small, maybe 70-80 cm. very soft. the window was defect, not to close. only one single glass, no way to keep the nois outside, anyway. There was no bathroom, only a WC on the floor, and a shower for all rooms on the floor,...

Small but clean, no frills. The location is great, you can walk to many attractions. There is no television or radio. The steps are very steep, so be careful going up and down. More for young travelers on a small budget, but based on the price, you get what you pay for. If I had to crash for a night...

Booked hotel Marnix for the location to the Melkweg which was right across the street and was cheaper than most of the other places we looked at. I think the hotel would better be described as being a hostel though as the rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade if they are to be described as such. We...

Basically a good central location, pleasant staff, wifi and honest price. The rooms were a bit basic & I had a lot of difficulty getting into my bunk but the sheets were clean and the rooms were tidied everyday - Okay for a short stay if travelling alone.

Marnix is not a hotel. The images you see on Internet are misleading. Its degrade and dirty from the stairs to the sheets. The bedrooms are filthy, with a broken window and the light switch without plastic protection. I think their licence should be removed. In resume: avoid this place.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
