The Aalborg hotel is located in an interesting district of Amsterdam, just a stone's throw away from the Albert Cuyp Market - so it's away from the tourist tracks but still in central Amsterdam and on the route of the 25 tram which connect with Centraal station. The room we had was tiny, the bathroom tinier still, but it was...

I don't know why other people complained about the staff but I only had good experiences with them. The single room that I stayed in at first was tiny. For those people that have traveled in Japan then the room is about the size of a small Japanese business hotel room. I moved to a double room for the second...

Small room, bed has never been made well during 6 nights. Only the cover was made fine, but under cover was a miss. Poor and low quality breakfast, so that I had only one time, the rest of the days I went outside for breakfast. One guy of the 3 or 4 reception persons was very unfriendly and indecent. All...

I had an single room and the bed was the smallest I've seen in an hotel. Also there was some strange ticking noise that I hear the whole night from the rooms next door, I think it might be the fans.

Hotel is just over 15 mins by tram from Centraal station, so not an unreasonable distance. Rooms were clean enough, but were very small as was the bathroom which is not helped by the door opening the wrong way and hits the bed. If you don't want to use the lift, the stairs are very steep. Breakfast was OK (cost...

The garbage can in the bathroom wasn't cleaned, and the floor was filthy. The people at the reception were very unfriendly.

Located near Sarphatipark, nice to be in a green leafy area. Good basic hotel, our double room was large and spacious. The single was very small. Very comfortable rooms though. Pity they don't do tea'coffee etc. in the room. Breakfast was fine. Liked the location, good restaurant on the corner to use and tram to centre just up the street....

Staying in De Pijp

Neighbourhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
