walk to every major museum from this well run B+B--perfectly located in an upscale neighborhood and blocks from the museums. The tram to the Central train station is right outside your door, too. Karel and Fauzon are your hosts. The two rooms are located at the top of a narrow winding staircase. We stayed in the Clock Room--large, airy, clean,...

Great little B&B close to the museum area and in nice quiet neighbourhood. Good size room with small balcony. Use of shared kitchen is very useful and fridge is well stocked. There are bicycles to rent. All in all a good choice if you like peace and quiet.

I returned recently from my 9th stay at this fine place. The weather for most of the visit was cold and rainy. It spit a little snow and there was hail. So it was even better returning to my specious room each evening. There have been some additions since my last visit. There is a new state of the art...

Visited Amsterdam as a couple for 5 days. Loved staying at The Collector. The owner is very kind and everything is extremely well organized and managed. Price is very fair for the type of comfort and service. Decor of the hotel is very nice. Breakfast treats were amazing.

I visited b&b with my friend past September based on the reviews at this site. Everything was perfect. The location is great- the bus from/to the airport is just a few blocks away and the museum quarter is less then 5 minutes walk. The room was very clean, fresh towels every day. And the owner, Carel, is very nice.

We have just spent 3 nights here and agree with all the other great reviews. Karel couldn't have been more attentive. As our flight was late in the day he even gave us a room that we could leave our suitcases in and have a shower if we wanted. The location is great and we loved being able to walk...

Spent 4 days with Karel at his The Collector B&B. Charming home, comfortable accommodations & nicely stocked self-serve breakfast. He even did our laundry! Convenient location in charming neighborhood with many restaurants near by to choose from, a grocery store, and the museums & a concert hall. Tram and metro bus stop right out in front. We were delighted to discover this B&B located just steps from our favourite Amsterdam museums and the Concertgebouw. A comfortable bed, good shower and a fridge stocked daily with fresh food for breakfast - all the details are looked after by the friendly hosts. It was a pleasure to stay at this B&B and we do plan to return next...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.

The 17th century canal area is just a 10 minute walk from the B&B. There is direct bus line nearby for transfers from and to the airport. Your host Karel Poels is an active collector, who can tell about his different collections with lots of enthusiasm.
