We stayed at the Flying Pancake for two nights and thoroughly enjoed ourselves. The location is quiet and only a few minutes walk away from lovely shops, bars and restuarants. The suite was perfect with gorgeous bed linens and an amazing shower room. It was really clean and tidy. Claudia's attention to detail is amazing! We loved the little luxuries...

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. We stayed at the top floor suite and slept in a loft. This is truly value for money. The Flying Pancake is in a quiet neighborhood, but all the sights and restaurants were within walking distance. We enjoyed walking. Claudia, host and owner, was simply super! Imagine, breakfast with fresh bread and...

While listed as a B&B, the experience here is like being at a small luxury hotel. The two rooms are exquisitely done, and have a separate entrance. Breakfast is brought to the door each morning. I stayed in the "Cooks Suite" up at the top of the house, which consisted of a main floor and a sleeping loft. The entire...

Just to add to the glowing reviews of this great little B&B, one of the best features of the location is access to the metro station, just around the corner. Though it's a bit tricky at first, Waterloopien is just two stops on any of the 3 subway trains leaving Centraal Station (exit the station toward the front of the...

The Flying Pancake is just as reported in the reviews - top notch service, comfortable and spacious (see photos), and a handy location for transportation and easy walking to many museums etc. But what I was curious about was how will TFP suit for 12 days? Perfect! Hardly a day went by when my husband and I didn't say "this...

Quaint, well appointed, clean, friendly and easily accessible to everywhere. Our host Claudia was friendly and accessible, although we rarely had to askfor anything since we wanted for nothing... When we did, we were met with unequivocal solutions. My favorite was the steam bath, and my partner's was the open fireplace. We were there for over a week, which gave...

We booked the Flying Pancake following the great reviews on trip advisor and we weren't disappointed! We arrived from the airport to the central station via the train and then jumped onto no 9 tram. The instructions that claudia gave were spot on and we got to the property in about 15minutes from the city centre. Claudia was expecting us...

Well, what good can I say that was not already said about this property? It is simply perfect. From the personal care Claudia gives to her guests, the nice breakfast basket you get every morning to the top-notch suite with all its gadgets (espresso machine, remote controlled lighting, B & O TV, DVD and CD). Go there and enjoy. Nearest...

I'm still talking about the Flying Pancake and I stayed there more than a year ago!!! The place is that dynamite. Romantic, relaxing, and rejuvenating are three words that come to mind. The loft layout is so sheik-reminding you that you're away, and the hardwood floors and curtains make it feel like home. Claudia had put fresh flowers by the...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
