I've stayed in plenty of hostels over the year and without sounding obnoxious I know a good hostel when I see one! I stayed here with 3 friends for 3 nights this week and it hasn't left a lasting memory. We were checked in by a lovely Australian lady, she was very helpful and gave great advice about what to...

We had a great time in Durty Nellys. All of the staff were so friendly and accomodating especially Amy, Cian and Naoise who we had great craic with down in the bar. The rooms are very clean and there is a great buzz around the place. I would reccomend it to everyone. Had a blast.

Durty Nelly's is one of the greatest places I've ever been too. My two friends and I stayed in a room with three other random travelers; our room had a bathroom and a lovely shower that included body/hair soap. There was also a sink outside the bathroom, which was very convenient for brushing your teeth while someone else was in...

Cosy pub with enough space to relax, eat & chill. Food is good. We had combo plate, all was well cooked and good value.  A nice pub you can enjoy with friends. We visited the pub at early afternoon, there was a good atmosphere. We really enjoyed our experience.

I stayed in Durty Nelly's, my first solo visit to Amsterdam. Nice clean comfortable room. It is right in the centre of the city - 10 minute walk maximum to anywhere. Lovely staff, very fun bar downstairs! 100% recommend :)

Stayed there for a week whilst playing around in the city. Very friendly staff, who were very helpful and accomodating. Standard hostel rooms which were very clean and the beds were decent. Great place to meet people over a few drinks, plus they give you a discount for drinks while you stay there.

Visited last year for lunch and they had a good range for vegetarians. This time we wanted breakfast. This time the vegetarian choices were far fewer. I had the Greenacres breakfast (veggie) €8 and my daughter had the Full Whack (€11). She was disappointed with the two meagre sausages in hers, as opposed to the proper Irish sausages she'd had...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
