A friend and I stayed at Aroza Hostel in November 2013 as we spent a couple of days in Amsterdam. The location of the hostel was perfect: it was located on Nieuwendijk, one of the main streets with supermarkets, restaurants and coffee shops, and only a five minute walk from Centraal Station. That's probably the only positive thing about the...

I stayed in Aroza Hostel with a lad I was seeing in summer, at the beginning of our European Adventure of 2013 Inter-railing. Staying at Aroza in Amsterdam was a brilliant way to start our trip and I wouldn't have done it any differently. The staff were friendly and so were the usual guests that basically live there, talk to...

- Great Location - Very friendly staff - Good for our group as there were 8 of us so we had a dorm to ourselves - Not the best room cleanliness - Crap bathroom - wifi works in the reception area only, which isn't really an issue - half decent breakfast of toast, and good coffee

This hostel was everything we needed and more when I went to Amsterdam last june with my friends. I stayed in an 8 bed girls only room with 1 of my friends and it has a lovely little sun trap terrace out the window where we could smoke. Downstairs was a small smoking area (6 or so people), a large...

Came here for a weekend with a group of 8 guys. To start with the positives - The location is great, slap bang in the heart of the city. Staff were friendly and helpful and worked with a smile. And of course it was cheap. On to the negatives - Our room was on the top floor and there are...

I have been to Amsterdam several times and have stayed in many hostels throughout Europe. I didn't think a lot about the place at first because is was so cold outside but the heating system in the Aroza did not work very well or at all. The location is the best part, the only good part, well I guess I...

When we first arrived at Aroza, we were stunned by Amsterdams atmosphere. The hostel itself was nicely decorated, with a nice, a bit alternatice style. The reception area was nice, and it also had a weedsmokingarea, biliardroom and a nice little bar. The receptionist was very helpfull, and showed us to our rooms. When we got to the room, our...

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
