Well where do I start?... Arrived at this hotel which if you don't know Amsterdam is quite hard to find. We went up several streets & took some wrong turns before stumbling upon it, not well signposted & directions could be better but once you know where it is, it is in a good location. When I arrived the receptionist...

The hotel is nice, well located and staff friendly, but my room was in the basement, very claustrophobic, small windows, a glass door in the bathroom which takes off any privacy, specially if you need to use the toilet at night, the light goes straight to you friends face.. but the main problem was the toilet / sewer smell, first...

Thank you for sharing your experience! We are sorry to hear about your stay in one of our ground floor rooms. Please note that we are already working on a new design for the bathroom doors :). Besides that we are familiar with the odor.. the odor does not come from the toilet but from the ground underneath the hotel,...

The hotel rooms are very small. Although we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. The hotel is also a 20 to 30 minute walk away from the town centre. Staff were lovely. Room was always clean no matter when we left during the day, we always came back to a clean room. Trams do stop near the...

Even if I had a good price with booking I never imagined I end up in the basement! The room was tiny, cold, noisy and bad smelling (humidity). I had two beds instead of a large one as booked. The cleaning team does not make the room every day. The breakfast is expensive.

Looks good enough from the outside, but the gulf between the polished reception and the tired, cramped room is vast. Assaulted by the stench of toilet as soon as I entered the corridor to the basement level room, which permeated through to the room. No soundproofing to speak of, could hear every noise from both street outside and corridor and...

Clean, good value for money and fab location. Beautiful view from room out into Amsterdam. Quite busy outside but noise couldn't be heard in room. Bathroom a bit small and minibar was empty/ coffee tea etc wasn't amazing quality but this was more than fine given the price of the rooms!

TV not very practical placed in single accommodation. Room very basic. Breakfast great. Staff excellent and helpful. Entrance could be more "user friendly' as it is quite difficult to carry heavy suitcases up the stairs for a woman.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
