About
We would like to welcome you in Grand Boutique Hotel "Huis Vermeer"!!
The history of our three monumental buildings, throws you far back in time. In 1880, the 'Deventer' banker J. Vermeer, gave architect W.C. Metzelaar the job to convert the establishment, where we are in right now, to his place to residence.
Restaurant
The dining room is richly decorated with ceiling and wall paintings dating late 18th century. The wooden sliding doors which give access to the bar and the conservatory, are from the same period. A precious detail is the carpet in the dining room, which is a reflection of the ornaments on the ceiling. These beautiful details can also be found in our chapel and rooms.
Our cuisine is refines and boasts a range of culinary possibilities
Chapel
In 1895 the left side of the house was extended with banker Vermeer's house chapel which is now the reception of our hotel. This room is has been assigned by the Dutch government as official monument. The Neogothic panelling is restored to its original glory, as well as the fireplace. Naughty detail...The facade of our hotel features the Latin words 'DEVS AVXIT' which means as much as 'God Multiplies'. We will never know what Mr. Vermeer meant by this. Did he mean posterity or prosperity??
Lounge
Next to the reception you will find our 'Lounge' which is a multifunctional room. As hotel guest you can use the room for your well needed relaxation after shopping en sightseeing whilst enjoying a drink and a titbit. The Lounge can also be booked for your private dinner or meeting.
A special corner is reserved for our gift shop, where you find attractively priced jewellery.
Conservatory and Courtyard
Our 'Conservatory' is tastefully decorated. The glass rooftop brightens up the room and ensures "the sun is always shining", also because the gold-leaf in the paintwork.
Through the immense doors you will find our 'Courtyard' with our walled terrace with authentic details. Here you can enjoy your morning coffee, lunch or dinner.

The staff are outstanding though- they were always so friendly, helpful and genuinely so pleasant that it just made everything feel so much nicer. I really would go back- overall, we were very happy, especially with the staff.

We really couldn't think of anything that could be improved.
Breakfast is a treat, in a beautiful atmosphere the staff ensures that you lack nothing. At the table you get the tastiest sandwiches, fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, sufficient toppings (egg, cheese, sausage, fish, sweets, etc.) and ordering more is no problem.
We parked the car in the private parking garage within walking distance, which was very easy.
The hotel restaurant is highly recommended. The 5-course dinner is an accumulation of taste sensations that you must experience. The kitchen is flexible and has provided us with a vegetarian and vegan experience.
The hostesses and hostesses understand their profession and are the wish of every employer.
Our thanks go to the friendly staff of this wonderful hotel.
There is no need to take the steep, narrow stairs - there is an elevator available.
The breakfast service could be a bit more attentive.
It is not for nothing that earplugs in box on bedside table. I slept above the kitchen and the extractor was on the roof next to my room. With own earplugs slept wonderfully. Perhaps make 4/5 pieces of curtain into two curtains.? The privacy in this room is difficult with open curtains, likewise on the shaft side where anyone can walk past, so a lot with curtains closed.
"The "hay loft" room in the picture is well worth the extra cost. It is a Dutch experience."Read full review
