Stayed over for work. The apartment was spacious, clean and very cozy.
The beds were comfortable. The toilet and shower spotless. The owners were very thoughtful by offering complimentary red wine at checkin.

My wife and I spent four nights at the "Vischpoorte" recently and we were very pleased. We tried to stay under 100 Euros per night and still have a high-quality and comfortable place. We were in "room 1" at the Vischpoorte and it was 370 Euros for 4 nights. It was a 2-room apartment. The main room had a desk, sofa, satelliteTV and fully-equipped kitchen. (Also had free high-speed internet, which we did not use.) The bedroom was small but contained a queen-sized bed and sink with shower and a separate door into the toilet. The owner was a friendly younger man who had bought the old building and is gradually converting and modernizing the dated apartments and turning the building into a "hotel". Although our apartment was the smallest (and least expensive) of the four rooms he has converted so far, it was well furnished, clean, comfortable, and quiet. We would definitely return here again. By the way, the town of Deventer is charming and quaint plus the surrounding countryside was beautiful and well-suited for cycling.

No discussion. An excellent place to stay in the old town of Deventer. Car parking available. Calm and overlooking Ijssel river. This unknown area one of most beautiful in East Holland. Visit nearby Zutphen center also Hansen city. And Brockhorst using the ferry. Enjoy and relax. But be prepared for big bangs from church clock in the stillness of the night.

This place is deceiving via picture as it's very old, dirty and smelly. When complained the owner Peter doesn't want to know SAD. He was hursh & aggressive. Please don't pay upfront; pay upon completion of stay. We found hairs on duvet, dirty sheets and bed bugs, my kids could not sleep so I moved them to another place. Waste of money and time.

Dear Mr. Sadrul, I am sorry to see your review and your pictures. To be honest, I do not know why you are placing this review and wrong pictures on the Tripadvisor site. You had a beautiful and clean apartment and nothing was wrong. I do not recognize what you are saying. Please have a look at the other reviews and you will see that you made (purposely or not) a big mistake by putting your comments on Tripadvisor. I am sorry to say but this is violating all guidelines of writing a review. I am sure the guests who stayed here, had a pleasant stay. Please check our other reviews. And we will do our utmost to give all our future guests a very nice stay as well. We take all reviews very seriously but this one is really out of line. I booked a room with this hotel through hotels.nl. The price was right and I was happy to stay there. But the next day I got an email from the hotel saying they had cancelled my reservation because the room I booked was not available. However they were willing to sell me another room for more money...

Since February 2010 I am the new owner of Hotel de VIschpoorte. I regret the booking problem of the guest. It happened before my ownership. From February 2010 all bookings are done with professional partners and by ourselves. You, as a guest, always receive a written confirmation of the reservation within 12 hours. A great hotel with good service. The room I had was large for a hotel room and since the hotel is a appartment hotel you have acces to a kitchen of your own and there are supermarkets located close to the hotel where you can buy everything that you need. And if you don't feel like cooking there's plenty of restaurants close to the hotel.

room one is nice enough but there is no window in the bedroom and adjoining toilet and the only window that opena is in the sitting room area and is tiny. This is because the room is on the ground floor on the street. Cars do go by fairly constantly so this is definitely not the quietest of rooms despite my expllcit request in the booking. A fan here would be helpful at least tin the summer. Not impressed!

I usually stay in Airbnb’s, but thought I’d try a hotel for just one night. Imagine my surprise when I found my room to be a little apartment! I don’t like to sit and read while sitting in bed, and was thrilled to see a sofa, along with a desk and even full kitchen! My bed was comfortable, too.
The hotel owner was very helpful and accommodating, as well as a very interesting conversationalist. If we lived close to one another we’d probably be friends.
The building is 400 or 500 years old, and I love that kind of historic feeling. If you come to Deventer, stay here.

This hotel is scattered around some historic buildings at the heart of Deveter, just on the river side where the little ferry can take you across( ideal for free parking) . The hotel is run by a couple, that also means that reception is not always manned. But the service itself is personal and great. Breakfast is in the main building, we stayed in another house half a block further. Our apartment was very spacious and clean with a splendid view of the river. Just wow.
The breakfast room is rather small, so you have to do some planning for that with the owners.

Arrived earlier then 22.10 and all the doors were shut and light off. walked around the corner to see if there was another door (in the riverside), and there was one but looked like another property entry.
We Knocked on the door, phoned but no one answered.
My girlfriend she was feeling very cold and I booked another hotel 5 mins walk from this.
The Fletcher Glide and paid another €103 for that night.
The next day, I've got charged as no show €82 by this guy Peter.
I have filled a case with booking and my credit card to reverse charges and this is my honest review of this place.

Unfortunately Fabio is not really telling the truth. He was later than 23:00 hrs, the doors were closed because check in is till 23:00 hrs. He could have called us and we would have opened the door even after 23:00 hrs.We are always willing to help our guests the best we can. We are 24 hrs a day present or reachable by phone. However Fabio did not call us. Instead he booked an other hotel. This is how it went and that is why this guest was reported as no-show. Best regards, Peter van den Hengel Owner Hotel de Vischpoorte
