The building is beautiful, as well as the WIFI and the breakfast. The location is in the heart of the old city and 8min walk from the railway station, which is convenient. However, it;s very cold in general especially if you room is a corner room, like mine. The TV did't want to switch on. The rooms are clean. I was allowed to make the tea at night.
The hotel is very nice and clean. Our room was on the side of the hotel with a lot of stairs which can be tricky when carrying suitcases. It is near to the city center as well as train station and park (10-15minutes walking). The breakfast was really good with the nice selection of food. The staff were pretty helpful for everything we asked.
As in all Fletcher hotels, they tend to put you in the worst rooms when you book through third party booking platforms (Hotels.com in my case). Old, dirty room with small bathroom and virtually now windows. Don’t let this hotel ruin your stay in the lovely town of Enschede!
Hotel could use some renovations, carpet stained, bathroom small, room was way overpriced. But pretty building, good location and friendly staff. I have stayed at other fletchters and this was unfortunately not the same standard.
Whilst our meeting was in Apeldoorne, our hosts suggested staying in Deventer as it was apparently a nicer town. This was true, it was a beautiful town with this hotel being a 5-10 minute walk from the train station. Externally it looked lovely, as did the reception area and staircase. The room however did seem to be stuck in the mid-80's with not the most pleasant desk furnishings and two twin mattresses stuck together. In saying that, other colleagues in our party had much more recently modernised rooms from all accounts, but this review is based on my own room. Twin beds were pushed together but separated whilst trying to sleep on them which was quite annoying. The bathroom was fine although it wasn't the cleanest - clean enough but little things like small spots of mould on the silicone and very discoloured grouting are things I notice as I spend a lot of time in hotels! They also only left me about 10 sheets of loo-paper but they did replenish this the following day. Staff were very helpful, polite and spoke perfect English. Breakfast was fine and what would be expected - the toaster actually worked quite well (for once, many dont). Overall it was a pleasant stay and maybe if I had a more modern room it would have been 4 stars.…
We stayed in the Fletcher Hotel Gilde in Deventer for one night on our little trip, visiting friends and museums. The positives: -located in the town centre, -friendly and helpful staff, -good breakfast. The negatives: -tiny room, -narrow bed, -no bedside table, -furniture and décor very old fashioned, -faulty lamp, -shower room tiny and very basic, -elevator: shabby, we thought it wasn't for hotel guests, -staff using the guests restaurant facilities for making their coffee&tea. In all: a rather dissappointing experience!
I arrived late and was extremely friendly welcomed. The room was basic but OK with a (too) soft mattress. The surprise came in the morning: balcony with beautiful view on the interior garden; interior of the hotel resembling rather a chapel or small church, ... beautiful! Basic breakfast. So basic hotel (and basic price, so OK) but absolutely worth to visit for the interior, the garden and the very friendly personnel! Quiet but not because of the bell of a church nearby...
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights using this hotel as a base. It is in a great location and staff were helpful. The historic building has lots of charm. The room was basic but comfortable with a nice outlook onto the internal courtyard garden. Would definitely stay again!
Stayed in Gilde Hotel with my daughter for the weekend ( Easter). We had hired bikes from the Hotel as well. Super bikes! On arrival things went slow with checking in, other times the Reception staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful. The room was very basic, no kettle to make tea, no small fridge. The beds were good. ( double room in the corner with the little tower in the corner. Shower room again very basic. No place to put towels or clothes. The history of this building is very interesting. loved the old floors, ceilings and glass stained windows. Please preserve those Gilde Hotel is a perfect base to explore Deventer. I would however recommend an upgrade of the rooms and service facilities.
Small but compact room, spotless clean even though I have to agree the décor is a little dated. Staff were tremendous. Helped us with directions, advice, calling a taxi. They were all good. There is no safe deposit box apparently. In the hotel description on the site we booked through it said there was but this was incorrect. Not a big issue but it might affect someone. Bar was fine, reception staff got us the drinks when the bar was quiet and we took them back to our room. Breakfast was good. At last someone who knows how to cook streaky bacon without making it as dry as a stick. Decent selection and fresh fruit available. The area appeared to be safe to walk through at night. We were late in and out every night and encountered no problems. 7.50 Euros taxi from the station. I think that might be a minimum fare as it is quite close but its not too bad. We walked on the return journey. Would i stay there again? Yes i would and probably will.…
