Detailed Reviews
The room was great and we did enjoy the nice balcony on the water front, which was great for a morning coffee. The hotel is situated in the quiet part of Giethoorn, which we actually really appreciated. The breakfast is included and offers a great selection of fresh food, and we could actually pack our lunch for our day hike for free, which does not happen very often. The best part however was the check in, the receptionist was really friendly and took her time to explain us everything, and had a small bottle of proseco ready for us (after we enjoyed a great cup of coffee). She is the best, she puts the phrase gust friendliness in practice :-) . i would go to this hotel again if i am in the area.

Room Tip:Â Try the boat rental place a few blocks down the road, they have the original wooden boats.

Stayed here for my wife's birthday on a ' special' deal with dinner included. Our welcome was extremely friendly and we found out we had been given a room in ' the farmhouse' a 5 minute walk away. What a wonderful place! Old thatched building next to the canal, lovely old room and although had shower room (wonderful shower too) the toilet was just next door. Not a problem.
The dinner was a big surpise. We knew it woudl be a set menu with no cloice but each of the three courses were excellent, possibly the best meals we had on our visit to the Netherlands.
The breakfast was bought to the table due to social distancing, and a huge choice of breads, meat, cheese, yohurt and if wanted, eggs cooked to order.
The staff here were wonderful, as were the owners.
Took a boat from near the hotel for 2.5hrs which was fun.
Nice walk from the hotel around the old village, which we don't know existed even though had been to Giethoorn 5 times before, having always assumed the tourist area was all there was to see. How wrong.

We drive from United Kingdom for a very short visit to Giethoorn. Plenty of free parking places at this place. Very safe and easy access. Fantastic welcome from the lady owner, very friendly staff and amazing Gabriella cooking for us the most delicious dishes . The Restaurant is clean and tidy and the terrace outside is outstanding. Three rooms with canal view, small individual terrace and bathroom tube inside the bedrooms, very posh. We didn't want breakfast but the staff insisted and send us fruits and a small bottle of Prosecco. Food was good with a pleasant plating. Prices a bit more than usual but is worth every penny, strongly recommended this place if you want to relax outside of the crowd.

Gourmet Dinner and Breakfast in a beautiful setting (terrace and restaurant).
But our room n°16 in the "farm" ("de boerderij") was not at all like on the video of the hotel website: summary comfort, dark, no night tables or bedside lamps, old-fashioned bathroom and separate from the room. Which justifies the Average Rating because of the Best Value Award.
How to justify the 4 Star Ranking in this case?

This is our first time to visit Giethoorn but there is no good impression to us. The hotel is in a very bad condition. The room which is on the second floor of the restaurant is so small, unclean and old. So the hotel's lady said she can change the room to the farm house. But it's even worst. The room is dark, full of stink, with a lousy toilet and some wired noise. Then the hotel's lady said there is no other room to change. At that moment, we're thinking about how to deal with the room. Unfortunately, there's a very rude woman said that they have many visitors to here and told me feel free to walk away. So we walked away. Then there's another very rude woman said that we must pay for the booking. Then the worst thing was happened. The woman asked us about "Are you Chinese???" Is it a racism??? It's very terrible. We're very angry so we walked away after we paid for the total cost. We waste 160 euro on that horrible hotel and we never come back.

The room and the bed were tiny - my husband (190cm) couldn't stand up straight (low ceiling), very different to their internet pictures. The bed was really soft & small (120cm?) and there was an annoying tapping noise all night from the central heating. I tried to mention it in the morning but they didn't want to know & charged more than we expected for dinner (30eur each - it was ok but not really worth it). I tried to be nice about it but there was no sorry, discount or anything. They were very friendly and service was good on arrival but definitely over priced for this beautiful area of NL. Never again!

I really wanted to love this hotel, but....
The owner Rueli was lovely, the village is charming however the rooms in the main building are tiny and have no soundproofing at all. You will be kept awake by people in the other rooms. I believe that the rooms in the canal annex and the old village are much better. Also the staff were just not coping with their guests, the overwhelming majority were Asian and the language issues were causing problems. We had booked a bike and boat package but we were never offered the boat trip and the staff had no time at checkin to provide us with any information. When we left there was just a comment - oh you should have had a boat trip, - no apology or refund offered. We were very disappointed as this could have been a lovely experience.

Giethoorn is a lovely village. Its small canals are the result of the peat harvesting, and most of the village is accessible only on foot or by boat.
We stayed at the Hotel De Jonge for two nights in early May. Our room was on the main floor and was both clean and spacious. The bath was quite nice.
This hotel is at the north end of the village and is several kilometers from the main commercial center where you will find a number of restaurants, bars, cafes and a small grocery store. It's quite a long walk from the hotel, so you should plan on driving or biking if you want to go there. The advantage of the hotel's locatiion is that it is far less crowded than the village center. The canals and canal houses near the hotel are just as pretty, and in the early morning or evening, you could be the only person walking about.
The hotel has a good restaurant with a decent breakfast. We also had our dinner there on both nights, it was pretty good for a hotel restaurant, but not outstanding. There is a very nice terrace outside where you can have your meals, or a drink, in fine weather.
The staff were courteous and friendly. Our waiter spoke good Engiish and was very helpful in suggesting places to visit nearby.
Overall, a pleasant experience. We would stay there again.

This hotel is located at the Old Giethoorn Village. I have no regret booking this hotel even though it is not located at the Giethoorn Center. The surrounding area of this Hotel is much more beautiful than the Giethoorn Center. Giethoorn Center is the place where you can rent a whisper boat to visit the canal village. Bus 70 from this Hotel to Giethoorn Centre is only 4 bus stop away which took < 8 minutes and cost about Euro1.40 with OV Chipkaart. The intervals of this Bus 70 is every 1 hour. The Bus Stop name for this Hotel is called 'Hotel De Harmonie Stop'. The Bus Stop name for Giethoorn Centre is 'Giethoorn Dominee Hylkemaweg Stop'.
If you are arriving at the airport, grab a train to Steenwijk Train Station (Nearest train station to Giethoorn Village). This will cost you about Euro22.70 one way. If you don't have a OV Chipkaart, then it will cost Euro1 extra. From Steenwijk Train Station, get a bus right in front of the station, Bus 70 to this hotel (Hotel De Harmonie Stop). This hotel is 8 Bus Stop away (around 10 minutes) cost Euro1.90. Beware, the Bus might not stop at all Bus Stop if there is no one waiting there. For my case, it is only the 2nd Stop because the Bus skip 6 of the stop. You must ring the bell so that the Bus will stop at the place you want to disembark. You won't miss this hotel as it is just beside the Bus Stop. Hotel De Harmonie is opposite to this Hotel.
Giethoorn is a beautiful village and same goes to Steenwijk Town. I have no regret visiting this place. The staff at the Hotel are super nice. The serve us free welcome drink and a piece of cake before we check in. The breakfast are superb too! The most impressive thing is they only get you to pay on the day when you checkout the hotel. I have travel so many places and this is my first time to only pay when I checkout. The Hotel also gave us some souvenirs which are the the Stroopwafels, very very nice! This is a must eat delicacies in Netherlands. If you get the chance to taste the fresh one it's even better.
Highly recommended this place. I booked the budget room and they give a free upgrade to romantic suite. The room is so spacious with coffee maker inside the room itself. It is a cottage style room and gave us a very refreshing experience.

This place was seriously overpriced at 175 Euro for one person for one night including 4 course meal and breakfast. Was thinking was treating myself to a lovely character hotel on canal with food. On arrival emphasised wanted quiet room but got a room above kitchen and was subjected to kitchen noise until 12.30pm. Room had no aircon was too hot and couldn't leave Windows open due to being bitten by wee flying things. WIFI did not work in room. Room was very small. No drinks included with meal. Staff were nice and friendly and meal was nice.
