We have spent one night this week at Hotel Oldenburg. The room was very spacious, big bathroom, water , tea , coffee and wine in the room , all inclusive. But the problem is the house itself. The hotel has 4 rooms above a popular restaurant, and is located in a 19century house. There is no sound isolation, so basically, we could hear every step, every thing that was said by the group that stayed above us, until they left for the city, and when they can back at 5 AM. On the other side, I could not speak to the manager, left a message on the phone number available, was not called back. What I could hear was the personal of the restaurant vaccum cleaning the corridor at nmidnight, after business closure. Poor night of sleep overall, in a great room.

This hotel is very small and quirky. It is located above a tapas bar, so some rooms might be a bit noisy during evening hours. Other rooms hear the church bells through the night. But this is a very central location. Rooms are quirky. They aim for a modern and trendy look, with dramatic colours. It almost works. But some aspects rather clumsy or poorly considered, such as power outlets via extensions, no towel hanger by the washbasin, no blackout curtains. Some things need minor maintenance, such as sticking doors, wobbly handles, annoying but nothing serious. The lack of resident staff makes reporting such matters difficult. There is a free minibar! We booked via Booking.com and that booking advised that breakfast would be available, albeit elsewhere. This proved not to be the case. Not clear who is at fault for this

Nice small hotel on top of a Mexican restaurant in city centre Zwolle. Rooms are very spacious. We had a bathroom in the room and private toilet outside the room. No breakfast possible but enough restaurants around. Small minibar in the room with some drinks and snacks included in the price. Bed was very comfy. Here and there some extra maintenance needed. We liked the hotel and will be back.

We liked it and would stay again, but this one is a bit hard to review as there are so many ways to look at it so I will try to give you lot of details so you can make an informed decision. It a fair walk from the station, allow 20 min with luggage, but the walk is very pleasant and picturesque so the only downside is that you have to drag luggage along (worse if it is raining). When you arrive it can be a little hard to find as it is located above a restaurant and shares the same entrance, with the registration desk in the hallway - you may need to ring their number and someone will come down to check you in. The building is older with a lot of charm and character including a beautiful timber stairway which is rather steep, we had to climb several flights up and in all honesty, if you have trouble with stairs this may not be a best choice for you. The kind person at reception took my bags up but it was still a bit of chore for me to get up the stairs every time we returned to the room and when leaving took me a good ten minutes to get my bags down to the street. But as I said it has a lot of character and is really very appealing and beautiful so you enjoy the ambience as you make your way up or down the stairs but do hang onto the beautiful timber handrail. Next is the room. A spacious lovely room with a comfortable bed (unfortunately not a queen but two singles next to each other) and excellent wifi. The bathroom was also excellent with a very good shower, the toilet is clean and modern and for your private use but accessible from the hallway, so you need to step out of your room and walk about 2 metres to use the toilet, on the plus side the room had a very nice dressing gown you could use. This was slightly inconvenient, but was made up for by the spacious bathroom in the room. From the room you see and hear the clock tower which we thought was just awesome, but other may consider it was just noise, relax and enjoy the ambience :) Location: This why you stay here, literally like from a storybook, in the heart of the old town with shops, restaurants, markets, take away food, pubs, etc as you step out of the door. The town is very clean and pleasant, we spent hours just walking around and soaking in the atmosphere and buying things to eat. The staff was vey friendly and helpful, the location was awesome and to us, the ambience was priceless. We loved our stay but this may not be for everyone. Hope this was helpful.

We rented the luxury apartment which overlooks the market. Room is very large. You will hear noise from the restaurant until about 10:30pm and after that it is quiet. NO food smells which is good. The bed is large and comfortable, pillows were a bit hard for our liking and no substitutes could be found in the room. Free mini-bar was nice and the large soaker tub was appreciated after a cold day of exploring Zwolle. Public parking is about 100 meters from the hotel and the prices per day were reasonable.

This "hotel " has been really well thought through . My room had plenty of space , sound proofed and comfortable with enough power points , a free beer and snacks and rapid wifi . about 12 mnutes walk or bus ride from the station , i could not possibly have expected more for the price i paid. My only regret was not to have tried out the restaurant below selling great value tapas and so on to a very young crowd. Just a word of warning for the less mobile : the staircase / balustrade is a gorgeous feature of this lovely old townhouse but it's steep and a challenge with two bags to carry and no lift . apart from that , a great place to stay over and i will be back for sure !
