The Hanze Hotel is founded in 1348, when Zwolle still was a member of the Hanze. A community of cities in what now are the Netherlands, Germany, andsome countries to the North. It is a cosy and clean hotel, in the middle of the centre of Zwolle. The staff is very friendly, and they do their best to make your stay pleasant. The room is well furnished, and you can even make some coffee or tea in the room.Breakfast is differentiated enough to finish it with a full stomach. In the hotel there is also a Spanish restaurant, where you can drink your welcome drink, offered by the staff. The Hotel is not far situated from museum the 'Fundatie', and other great places to visit in Zwolle. it is situated about 15 minutes by foot from the railway station.
Location, location, location ... that's the main attraction of this small hotel in the heart of Zwolle. When earplugs are provided for free you know that the rooms are not very quiet. The friendly service, relatively good breakfast and the Illy coffee make more than up for this. Elderly people might want to make sure that they are not booked on the 3rd floor - as the hotel does not have an elevator.
We stayed with a baby for one night. I cannot describe the room!!! It was very small but very efficient. It has coffee, tea all kind of amenities but the roof is very low and for a reason... All picture frames are not right! The staff is very friendly and polite and the breakfast is lekker!!
We stayed on Saturday night, our family had 2 rooms on the top floor. When we arrived and saw the restaurant on the ground level we were a bit concerned about noise, but when we asked the staff AND saw the ear plugs in the rooms; we knew we were in trouble. If it were honestly not for the repeated loud noise, talking, laughing, SCREAMING, singing and the room shaking from the music at the bar down below until 3am this would be a completely different review. The hotel itself is lovely, nice staff, small but cosy and clean rooms. The location is close to the market and town centre. Breakfast was excellent. If it were not for the insane amount of loud noise, I would have given this hotel at least a 3 if not a 4. But we ALL (including our 2 children) slept less than 3 hours. This is not a hotel for a good stay, this is a hotel if you are really in the area to party. We would never stay again and I would never recommend it to family and friends. Really a shame.…
Friendly great staff, the have some little special extras that make your stay nice. Room are small, we upgraded to bigger room and still small. Located at end of main street, across from a bus stop. Fussy travelers might not like because you certainly need to use the ear plugs they furnish you due to partying in the square at night, snoring neighbors, and if the next morning is a market day. But with the ear plugs it was perfect. Nice buffet continental breakfast with good coffee and friendly faces. Nice tapas restaurant below. Would recommend to those who don't mind a small room and ear plugs.
The double room we rented was very cramped, even for a single room. The bathroom was on one side of the room, while the sink was on the opposite side, near the beds. The hotel website advertised "parking" but there was no reserved parking for hotel guests, only an adjacent private parking complex that charges ~17eur per 24h!! The nearest free parking spaces are over a kilometer away! On the bright side - the hotel is located in the center of the old city restaurant avenue, so it is a good base for exploring the city on foot or via bicycle. The breakfast menu was rather sparse - mostly cold cuts and bread. Noise from adjacent restaurants may be a problem at night and the hotel actually provides free ear plugs for guests. Bottom line: if you want to live it up in the city center and are traveling by foot/bike, you may enjoy this hotel. If you are traveling by car and want a quiet, comfortable room - avoid it. …
Very central position – at the end of one of the main (pedestrianised) thoroughfares in the town. A quirky and characterful old building with beams on the ceiling of the breakfast room. Definitely an individual among hotels, no hint of a hotel chain here. Our room had a huge and comfortable double bed. Friendly and helpful people run this place. There is a good breakfast on offer. We were there for the zomerkermis- the hotel gave us the chance to cancel because of the noise and even provided ear plugs, so very thoughtful management. The carnival was great fun and not to be missed. Only downside: patchy Wi-Fi.
This attractive hotel, an old building right in the middle of the city center, offers good and clean rooms and a very extensive breakfast. Very friendly personel. Its situated on the second floor, above a Spanish restaurant.
This simple hotel is ideally located in the historical centre. The breakfast is pretty good and served in the very cosy restaurant. The ladies working there are very kind. But please ask for a superior room.
We came to see our son who was on an exchange year at the local university otherwise we would probably have never seen Zwolle! That would have been a shame. The Hanze Hotel gave us a great welcome and we have really enjoyed our stay. The location is great and the complimentary breakfast has set us up each day for our explorations around Zwolle. Great bargain hotel.
