What a pleasant stay. The most important thing about our experience: the staff helped us tremendously when one of us became ill during the stay. That alone is reason enough for us to come back here, and we certainly will! Furthermore: De Gaaper is located in a great location in the center of Amersfoort. Our room was not large, but we had all the necessary facilities and we enjoyed the view of the beautifully lit square and St. George's Church. The breakfast buffet offered us more than enough choice. Due to the lack of an elevator and the steep stairs, we would not recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility problems.

Stayed for 6 days.Excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them.Booked restaurant reservations and trips for us too.Was up in the attic room lots of stairs, had a great view of the square.Room was very clean, clean towels every day and plenty of tea/coffee facilities.even provided ear plugs!as the square could get noisy ! Excellent food market on a Friday and Saturday morning.
Would definitely stay again.

Great cozy place ideally located in the city center. Great people that make it a special occasion. They have a lot of attention for their guests. The rooms are spacious and clean, although there is some city noise during the night. A great place to come back to.

The management does not work with you at all for check in time. Even if you arrive early, they will not prioritize a room clean so everybody checks in at 3 PM not a minute sooner. We booked a comfort plus room on the square , but we were deceived by the photo of the building showing beautiful large Windows in a beautiful white building. it appears that most of the rooms are in the building next-door where we were on the fourth floor with a very small window and the only way to view the beautiful city Square was to stand in front of the window. The room was very small and very dated. They supply earbuds, which is a good thing because there’s a nightclub in the Square that goes strong until 2:30 AM.

But who had the idea of using the room I'm in as a hotel room (n 6)!!? The noise in the square right in front is hellish at night. It never stops (bars, restaurants, market setting up), it's just impossible to escape it, even with my noise-canceling headphones for the plane. The windows are single glazed, it's like I was there. Seriously, if you're thinking of sleeping, even just a little, find somewhere else.

I slept well, but I'm sorry that there are stains on your bedspread and fitted sheet. Furthermore, you must shower standing in the bath. In short, I slept well, but I don't think the price and quality are in proportion. Been to Amersfoort several times so it is substantiated. Furthermore, extremely friendly staff

This hotel is in a fantastic location at the corner of the main square, surrounded by bars and restaurants, however there is no parking within 400 metres. When we arrived we parked illegally the other side of the square to unload our luggage and were advised to move it immediately. Parking is in a multistory at 10 euros a night payable to the hotel.

There are no staff on site after 8pm which was a nuisance as despite advertising free WiFi this was not available during our visit and there was no one to report it to.

The hotel is different from anything we have stayed at before, a little noisey at night, rooms are adequate but the stairs are very steep. Breakfast is OK but nothing special. If we stayed in Amersfoort again I would choose a hotel further out of the centre with parking, however the hotel has something about it that is attractive and I'm not sure why.

This was our fourth visit to de Gaaper and again we were very happy to be there. It is conveniently located at the Market square and when the sun is shining the tables are all full of sun worshipping Dutch and their children. The rooms here are immaculate and the breakfast that is included is always fresh yogurt, juice, plus many different cheeses and meats. The coffee is hot and of course the owner, Janneke is always a pleasure to visit with.
I highly recommend this hotel for a visit. It is central to shopping - if you wish and you can even walk from the train station to the hotel.
The rooms are secure and very quiet.
We look forward to coming back next year.
Thank you again.

The city of Amersfoort is old and charming and a good break away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. The hotel is located on a square, right within the shopping district of the city. The room we stayed in was quite spacious and over-looked the square. Breakfast was good and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Overall, a great stay at a wonderful hotel in a charming city! Truly a hidden gem!

I spent hours researching where to stay in Holland. I'm glad to say it paid off because my nine nights staying at Logement De Gaaper were fantastic. Amersfoort is a major junction of rail lines, so you can reach any Dutch city easily, which was perfect as I wanted to travel all over Holland seeking out hidden modern art treasures, without having to continually move accommodation. Amersfoort is also an intriguing insight into Dutch history and way of life. It blends the contemporary with the middle ages and waking up each morning to the Hof (town square) was an experience I have never had before, having grown up in modern Australian suburbs. Amersfoort was at the time celebrating their 750th anniversary, and Logement De Gaaper was right in the centre of it. The hotel is situated in 3 adjoining traditional dutch townhouses, almost as old as the town itself and each with different floor levels. The steep winding staircases are all part of the quirky style of Dutch building. My room had angled walls and ceiling windows, even right over the bed! Such an authentic experience of Dutch design, than a room in a chain hotel, yet not without comfort. Everything was spotlessly clean, the free internet was amazingly good, as was the included breakfast, the welcome coffee and early check-in after a 24 hour flight and the helpful advice always available. The staff are warm and friendly without being imposing, which I really value. If you want a true Dutch experience in an amazing, safe and clean historic township, I highly recommend this hotel.

Saludos cordiales
