Detailed Reviews
On this our third visit to the hotel, we weren't disappointed. We were in fact reassured by the measures taken regarding the pandemic. Rooms and all public areas were kept very clean and disinfectant gel was available throughout the hotel, as well as reminders to keep a 1.5m distance. They took the Covid 19 situation very seriously, reminding you to disinfect your hands for example on entering the restaurant. Lovely clean rooms/bathrooms and nice view from lakeside rooms which are more spacious than standard ones. Very friendly and efficient staff in all departments. Warning though if you're a light sleeper... the ducks on the lake wake early every morning at sunrise and make a real racket so be prepared and bring your earplugs! We'll continue with this room choice despite the ducks and armed with our earplugs as we do enjoy the view over the lake !!

Dear Ms. Lynda J., We appreciate your loyalty and your continued trust in our hotel and our staff. Your compliments about the taken measures regarding the pandemic lets us know we're doing our job. We hope despite the morning sounds of the ducks you had time to enjoy the view from your room. We are always pleased to be your second home when you're at the area. Have a great day! We booked a superior room with lake view and it was certainly worth the extra. The view from our balcony was beautiful and very relaxing. Our room was quiet and clean, with an enormous (and very comfortable) bed. One extra bonus was the number of plug sockets - no need to unplug the tv or scrabble around under the table as is so often the case. Although busy, the hotel was quiet and felt very secure ( lifts and staircases cannot be accessed without a room card).
We ate in the restaurant twice and, although it has a somewhat limited menu, the food was well-presented and very tasty. The bar offers a good range of local beers.
Car parking is not expensive for Holland and the car park is very secure and conveniently situated.
The hotel staff are friendly and very obliging. A minor issue with housekeeping on our second day was dealt with promptly and efficiently. Similarly, when there was a muddle about the table we had booked for dinner, we were given complimentary drinks to compensate.
Two very small complaints would be the lack of proper cups in the rooms ( there are small cardboard ones provided) and the bizarre toilet paper holder, which dispenses only one very small sheet at a time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we’re very sorry to leave.

I'd booked a superior room lakeview because they were described as quieter and the room description on the website + the pictures showed there was a bathtub. When we arrived, the room was in the stair case. The room itself was way smaller than advertised and there was no bathtub.
When I asked to change rooms for one that had a bathtub, the receptionist suggested I should have mentioned I wanted a room with bathtub during the booking process (even though it's not mentioned anywhere during the booking process). After waiting for about 15 min, she did give us another room, bigger and with a bathtub.
Another disappointment came during the check in, when I asked if we could use a microwave to heat the food we had brought as we knew the kitchen would be closed (because it was new year's eve). The receptionist didn't even consider it and said no.
The room was clean but the service wasn't amazing. Only one person, I believe the manager, was really nice and helpful, when we checked out the next day.
On another note: the swimming pool, sauna and steam room were nice, even if a little outdated.
Finally: I received an email saying I could check out online but when I tried, the service was "not available".

Dear Mr, Madam, We appreciate you took your valuable time sharing your opinion about your experience with us! We have always been truthful about our room sizes and since there isn't much we can do to make them bigger (we wish there was), we try to give back in great customer service and big smiles. Next time you book with us let us know your preference, we will make sure you get the right room. For heating up food there are certain rules for restaurants. Therefor, we have not been able to heat it up for you. On behalf of the team I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We hope that you will give our hotel a second opportunity if you are in the area. With kind regards, Hotel Mitland

We stayed here for 5 days as a base for a cycling holiday around Utrecht and we found this a very good base for the holiday.
Our room was a decent size and very quiet with a good view (it was worth paying a little extra for a "lakeview" room). The room was very clean and well-equipped, with a comfortable bed.
We had breakfast each day and found the selection and quality of food on offer was good and there was plenty of room in the dining room.
The best thing, though, were probably the helpful and friendly staff, particularly those on reception, who dealt with all of our questions and requests in a very competent manner.
The hotel is slightly out of the centre of the city but not so far as to be impractical and it did benefit from the slightly quieter location.

Dear AFCWNick, Thank you kindly for the great review. Happy to hear you found our hotel enjoyable for your cycling base. With our parking facilities (we have free parking if you book through our website) it only takes minutes to take the bike off the car, and ride downtown (10min) or be in the middle of the flat green countryside. Nice to hear our team was able to cater to your requests and we hope to welcome you again anytime soon. Note that we rent bikes and have maps available if needed. Thank you kindly, Remko Engelman, Hotel Manager

Sorry so lengthy. I will start with the CONS first. I just have to say I was very disappointed with the hotel. Now some people just want a place to rest their head such as a premier Inn or Travelodge, and this hotel was inferior to those. I was in Utrecht for business and was hoping for a nice cozy hotel especially when you’re trying make any sort of holiday you can squeeze out of your time away. My partner was with me so we felt having a pool , sauna and hot tub facilities would be ideal. You have to pay 5€ for 12 mins in single person hot tub which was disappointing. The room is ALL white, with no soft furnishings, apart from 2 small decorative pillows on the bed. Premier Inn have nicer rooms with more . Now, it may not be a big deal but for someone who works in a hospital it felt like I was in one as they are so stark. The hallways where the rooms are the (common parts) there is no furniture apart from a table with nothing on it, so-when you close the room door it sounds as if you’re closing a jail cell. The doors do not automatically close so if you stay here look behind you to make sure you close the room door. I saw some room doors open. The toilet paper dispenser gives you “sheets/squares where you grab 1 square at a time. The dispenser needs a key to get into the metal holder to be refilled, I felt like I was back in school or at a rest stop. You will get 1 pillow each that’s it, only 2 on the bed.
Pros- the staff are Amazing. The restaurant is cozy as well as the reception area. And another good pro is the hotel is very clean.
Restaurant food was ok. The bed was reasonable.
It rained and when I got back to the hotel one day and I felt just as cold in my room. I just couldn’t get over that I felt as if I was in a clinic or hospital and you wouldn’t want to feel that way being on holiday or on any business trip. The sauna and steam room were ok, no bathrobes. I was also very disappointed with paying 5€ for the hot tub for 12 mins.
I feel you can do so much better in Utrecht, unless you have to have a pool and sauna. It would not overturn the feeling I felts about the room having a pool of I were to go back.

Dear Kellyj942, How disappointing that it was not a perfect visit, my apologies that you have not enjoyed the facilities as much as you had expected. As you mentioned the hotel has a certain style which didn't meet your approval. Whereas I can't change the designs for the moment, I can address some of your concerns. For example, extra pillows are available in the closet, and we do have a pillow menu available on the service website, which you can scan on the QR in your room. This also shows site of Utrecht, services of the hotel and further comforts such as request for bathrobes and slippers. In reference to the sound and the doors, as well as your reference to our corridoors, we will take your feedback in our meetings to create a better environment, thank you very much for your comments. It was very nice to read you have enjoyed our staff services, the Auping beds and the restaurant service. And we do hope you will appreciate our efforts forward to improve our hotel. Just this week we are installing the new TV's and we will be renovating our bowling in July and August, a dedication to improving our services to our guests. Therefore, we hope you will give us another chance to welcome you back. With kind regards, Remko Engelman, Hotel Manager

Wonderful hotel. We rented bicycles so we could experience Utrecht as authentically as possible. Our family of four (children aged 6 and 9) had the best time in Utrecht which was enhanced by our choice of hotel. We rented bicycles at an excellent rate from the hotel so on our early arrival we were able to store our luggage and cycle into the city centre. Within 5 minutes we were by the canal so the location really is perfect. We were directed to the giant bicycle parking garage in the centre next to the library and were then free to wander with some specific recommendations from the hotel. Our room was huge and suited our needs perfectly. There were little touches like children’s slippers, towels wrapped into a bear shape and eco friendly children’s toiletries on the beds. The beds were very comfortable and our view was lovely. All staff we were in contact with were helpful, kind and spoke perfect English.

A very lovingly and modern redesigned hotel with very nice rooms. Located in the middle of nature and with a fantastic view of the fort where all kinds of animals can be viewed.
Breakfast really includes EVERYTHING you need for a good start to the day. - We even got decaffeinated cappuccino from the nice ladies at the table.
The restaurant in the evening offers a great menu, although relatively upscale in price.
The swimming pool and sauna are phenomenal, the hot tub (there you have to pay 5€ at the reception for a chip) is very pleasant, but unfortunately too short 😄, whereby you have to be extremely careful when entering! My mom (82 years) slipped badly despite our help because she could not see the step in the bubbling.
There are snack machines for the small appetite in between, but unfortunately you can only draw sweet drinks there. A bottle of luxury water at the reception or bar costs a whopping 6€!!!!! Which I think is completely excessive as we didn't get served them in the restaurant but needed them to stay in the room (where there was no welcome bottle!)
I cherish the glass bottle, the luxury water itself tastes not much different from sparkling water for normal mortals.
The staff is super (super!!!) friendly and helpful!!!!!
In Utrecht itself you are fast by car (it unfortunately rained on the weekend, so cycling was cancelled) but it was difficult to pay for a parking space as all parking ticket machines were digitally converted and the parking garage was only accessible via one-way streets.
Parking in the hotel is included in the price and very pleasant.
All in all a wonderful stay 💕

The Hotel is well laid out for Conferences and seminars with easy access to all area, the public areas are good and the on-site bowling alley a useful distraction if required. The Restaurant food was excellent quality and presentation. The rooms have many modern features whist retaining a slightly retro feel. The location of the park surrounding allows for good opportunity for exercise and back to nature whilst close to to the city centre facilities.

This is a great hotel situated in its own grounds with good facilities. It is around 20 minutes walk / 10 minutes bus ride or 10 minutes cycle from the centre of Utrecht. We had a room overlooking the lake which was beautiful, particularly in the morning. We hire bikes for two days (€16 for the first day and €13 for subsequent days). It was nice to get away from the centre of the city and relax during our weekend away. The breakfast was great - cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, ham and hot food too. Recommended.

I spend at least 90 days per year in hotels due to my work, and in the last 7 years I have not experienced this kind of service in a hotel, it's totally shocking. I have no idea how they managed to get 4 stars. I booked a deluxe room, and the hotel was quite a bit more expensive than other 4 star hotels in the same area so I expected a great experience. When checking in the staff was not very friendly and with every question that was asked they had to run to the back office to talk to the duty manager. The room was not worth the price that was paid for it, it was totally out dated, with handles of the terrace door nearly falling out and had to be shouldered to open as it was stuck. In the shower there were no dispensers and no place to put the soap etc so you had to put in on the floor and pick up when needed and as they use quite large dispensers it was very uncomfortable.
In the afternoon my wife wanted to make use of the rooms coffee machine etc. I don't drink powder milk, and as in any other hotel I have ever stayed in, my wife went to the bar to ask a cup of milk and she wanted some extra tea for the room as well. At the same time the room had no kettle in the room and one was expected to use the Senseo machine to make hot water (so you can have tea with a coffee taste in a 4 star hotel). So my wife asked the people at the bar to give her some hot water in a flask she had brought with. This was also a problem. My wife was given the tea extra tea bags and mug of milk. When I wanted to check out I saw wo charges on the account of 3 Euros each. When I asked the desk clerk what these charges were for she said for the milk and tea. I was amazed and asked for the charges to be removed as my wife hadn't signed any bill or was at any time told we would be charged. The manager was called and with a stone cold face she informed us that this is how they operate and was forced to pay the charges. When I told here that this was the most unfriendly hotel I have stayed in the response was that is was my opinion. I have never experienced a hotel manager with such a I don't care attitude in my lifer

Dear Jmarien64, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to see that you have had a bad experience at our hotel. I am afraid we are dealing with a bit of a misunderstanding here. We provide free of charge tea and coffee in room (kettle on request). As I understand it, you ordered both milk and tea at the restaurant, which naturally will be booked to your room. For any restaurant, our prices for steamed milk or tea would be market rates. On the other hand I understand you wanted a free of charge service, which would have been okay by calling reception for refills. In the end it is not unreasonable to expect any charges you make to be required to be paid, which our team communicated with you upon check out. Therefore, I apologize for the misunderstanding, and I hope that if you give us another chance, you can let us know what you require in room, so we can take care of it. Unfortunately for us, your reviewscore is low and maybe it's not your cup of tea, for which I apologize. with kind regards, Remko Engelman, Hotel Manager

Hello, yes there was!
Dear Charlotte,
Thank you for your question. Our Superior Rooms with Lake view are unfortunately not all equipped with a balcony. If you seek a room with a balcony within this roomtype we advice you to contact our reception or request this during your online reservation as those particular rooms are Always upon availability.
With kind regards,
Dear stVM,
Just to summarize all the given answers. From Utrecht Central Station you can take several busses to our hotel.
Lines 28 / 50 / 52 / 53 / 74 and 77 will all take you to bus stop Oorsprongpark. From this stop it is a 8 minute walk to our hotel. One of our employees is happy to send you some information by mail which discribes how to walk from the bus stop to our hotel. This information is also mentioned on our website. Please take note that travelling by public transport is often cheaper (up to 20%) if you have a OV-chipcard instead of buying a ticket at the bus.
Dear justamumWakefield,
It is possible to park your bicycle outside in front of our hotel entrance. Should you however need a secure storage (or for instance a location to charge an electric bike) you can ask our reception about the possibilities during your stay.
We have a payed parking at our hotel for which only the first three hours are free of charge. Applicable fees can be found on our website under 'Facilities'.
Feel free to ask us more, should you have any other questions regarding your stay
With kind regards,
Dear Cammy,
To respond to your three questions:
1. Our swimming pool is opened daily from 7 AM to 11 PM
2. To reach stadium Galgenwaard there are several options. The most frequent departing option is taking a bus from bus stop Oorsprongpark to UMC Utrecht (lines 28 Uithof P+R) and from there bus line 12 to Galgenwaard.
3. From bus stop Oorsprongpark you can also take several bus lines to the centre / central station. These depart every ten minutes.
Should you have more questions regarding traveling by public transport in Utrecht you also ask our available receptionists.
With kind regards,
