The hotel is a grand old building of majestic proportions overlooking the canal. It is a family-run establishment and everyone involved is very helpful and friendly. Our room was a sizeable suite with a beautiful old fireplace surrounded by blue and white tiles. There were attractive old cupboards on either side. There was an enormous and comfortable bed with hangings...

A very nice moment we spent there. The place looks a bit old and this is giving it a very good charm. Just located in the central of Leiden at a walking distance of central station... we will come back.

We booked this hotel to attend my daughters graduation. It was a lovely hotel with both rooms we had offering a separate shower as well as bath. This was a luxury I have not seen in any other hotel The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is an optional extra at 13.5 euros each. Entrance to...

This hotel has definitely been in action for many years. It is older and charming and as you will read elsewhere, the location is great. It is right on an important canal. My friend from Leiden said that Rapenburg has the most expensive real estate in Leiden. The people who worked here were friendly. I slept well and the price...

Loved staying at the De Doelen! A charming old dutch building on the very beautiful Rapenburg street. There is no elevator but the staff was super friendly and carried my luggage upstairs. Will most definitely go back to this hotel on my next trip to Leiden.

My friend and I had a room each on the top floor, which were both full of character and well-equipped. The hotel is in an old house right beside the Rapenburg canal, in the old part of Leiden. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, and very close to plenty of eating and drinking places. We enjoyed staying there...

Easy walk from the train station, and in a central location right on a canal. This hotel had so much charm, the rooms are large, old and unique. It's family run, the staff couldn't have been nicer. Leiden is a good starting point to visit the Netherlands, close to Kuekenhof, and an easy train ride/day trip to many cities. Happy...

Hotel De Doelen, an older, traditional Dutch hotel and family owned and operated, is on the beautiful Rapenburg Canal and is in a perfect location to explore Leiden by foot. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, which is nice for those without a car. The staff was very accommodating, offering to carry our luggage up several...

You can't get more centrally located than this hotel. It is a little hard to find by car, even the 2nd time...but once there...park and forget the car to explore Leiden. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's an interesting building, a lovely place to stay.

Improve your stay in Leiden by staying in an actual 'Leiden' hotel, instead of one of the big chains. De Doelen is super central, a beautiful building, lovely owners and staff and will give your stay in Leiden an extra bit of shine.
