On a roadtrip through Europe and booked this place last minute while having dinner in Dinant. Managed to check in quite late, around 9pm. It's located on a windy road through the forests, not too far from Dinant. Had a triple room which was spacious and comfy with a double and two twins. Bathroom was adequate. Lots of parking. Peaceful location. Had a good sleep but didn't have time for breakfast so can't comment on the food.

We went with our 2 boys and 2 grandparents. A great little gem of a hotel in a simply stunning part of the Ardennes. Dinant was about 8 miles away and we initially thought that was going to be too far to go out to eat in the evening. We actually ended up eating all four nights here as the food was that good!! The Cod dish was absolutely delicious (there are other eateries located closer than Dinant though) Very relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and the outdoor seating area. Prices were very reasonable and the staff were very friendly. The rooms were spacious and very clean and there was even an added bonus of a small swimming pool, which the kids loved. Very little English spoken by the owner and her staff but that suited us and we got by very well with my schoolgirl French and a bit of miming. Lots to do locally especially outdoor sports like canoeing and horse riding.

The accommodation block appeared relatively new and was rather more functional than comfortable with the mattress in particular being somewhat thin and lacking support leaving us both aching in the morning. It was pleasant to have a covered terrace with tables and chairs to sit at rather than being confined to the rather dark interior of the room itself. Very close alongside the Auberge is a railway station with the line which having a limited passenger service but is very busy with freight trains both day and night. Unfortunately the noise from some of the trains in the middle of the night can interrupt a good nights sleep. We did not find the staff particularly welcoming or friendly and we were disappointed by the one evening meal that we had at the hotel. Having enjoyed a number of very good / excellent meals on this trip, we found the standard of both the food and service to be of a very mediocre standard and certainly not representing value for money. We found the choices available for breakfast were rather limited and the service very much hit and miss. Overall there were far more negatives than positives and we would not recommend this hotel or contemplate staying there again if in the area.

The restaurant is great, the food is ecsellent but the service is a shame. I will comeback once they will change some employee. Arrogant, negative behaviors, angry eyes staring at us, threatening talks. A nightmare. Go there, you will have great time but avoid the waiter boy. Ask the smiley waitress instead. Food is recommended, not the service.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in April. The memory I will have of this hotel is their restaurant- food is rustic and uncomplicated- but my goodness what greatly cooked meals. Try the croquettes aux crevettes grises, or steak tartare. Just amazing. Bedding was less great- mattresses too soft, overheated rooms (without being able to change)...but honestly, the place is worth visiting for its food.

On the basis of the numerous excellent reviews given here we chose to go to this restaurant from our base in Celles for what we thought would be an above average meal. What a mistake. This was one of the least value for money, but most mediocre, meals we have had so far in our 6 weeks of travelling around Europe. It is clearly based on being a local tavern, not a restaurant. Although the A La Carte menu seemed to contain similar meals for a little less, we chose from the slightly more expensive fixed menu (€36) thinking it might offer a better dining experience. What we got was a passable cold starter, a plain and very overcooked breast of duck, and a selection of 2 plain desserts (strawberries and a scoop of ice cream or profiteroles). All served at a snails pace with a minimum of grace. The simple meal we had eaten at the tavern in Celles for 3/4ths the price the night before was a banquet in comparison. I wish we had taken more notice of the reviews pointing out the lack of civility when trying to order coffee. We now understand how that could be so. Note that this review is for the restaurant only. The accommodation might very well be as good as the reviews given - but those reviews were way off with regard to the restaurant.

Having a simple coffee at the table was a problem. There was one customer and all other 50 tables were empty but we were refused to sit at any of the tables but told to have coffee at the bar standing. Ridiculous! Such service makes you leave the place immediately what we did!

Although the place was empty, the staff did not allow to have coffee at the table but advised us to sit/stand at the bar instead. We left immediately. Such a approach to customers is not only pathetic, but simply ridiculous.... This is not how you earn new customers, I am afraid. Maybe that is the standard here....

We drove to Italy from the UK across Europe, it was getting late and we stumbled across this place. Lovely people, a fantastic room and a simple but delicious breakfast the following morning. We were even more surpirsed by the price, for a family of 4 it was cheap! Such an amazing little place, middle of nowhere, great if you want to just relax. We could never fnd this place again if we tried.

Unfortunately I cannot report about the rooms but my dad and I tried the restaurant which was very delicious. Let me start to say, should you plan to visit the restaurant during the weekend especially on Saturday think about reserving a table since it is getting full around 7pm, however arriving earlier should not pose a problem. The ambiance is rustic but cozy and the staff is very attentive, fast and eager to help. After we placed our orders we received some snacks, to bridge the time, which were really delicious. As starter we had shrimps in the home-made sauce and snails in olive oil with garlic and herbs which are served with some fresh bread and butter. Both dishes were excellent in taste and quantity for a starter dish. Since Auberge de la Lesse is famous for its trouts we couldn't resist to try them which was the right decision (although the duck looked also really nice). I highly recommend to try the trout in the home-made sauce which is served with either fries or Krokettes and a small salad. The trout was prepared perfectly and had a nice size, however, when you order pay attention that the portion of the Krokettes is much smaller than the one of the fries. The salad consisted of some lettuce leafs but with a nice dressing. Overall, if you are in the region I highly recommend to visit the restaurant, the food and service is great (and they have no problems if you bring your dog). The only negative aspects were the quantity of Krokettes and the quality of the salad however these aspects are easily forgotten.
