2023 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
A grand Italianate mansion with an incredible sense of history, The Van Cleef can be considered a stately home on one of Bruges' most beautiful canals. Today the house is transformed to a small, luxury boutique hotel where style comes with substance, where classical is mixed with contemporary and where cutting edge facilities are combined with good old-fashioned service standards.

Great Hotel and even better service. Nothing was too big of an issue. Even when we had an issue charing our car they were so helpful and could not do enough for us. Room was spacious and the internal areas were well decorated. Breakfast by the river was loverly. Only down side i could say about the place is it was a little bit furhter from the center of town then others but the hotel makes up for that in eveyr other way. Would defo stay again and would recommend.

Hotel's Favourite
This hotel is amazing and worth every penny. The hotel is well designed without being pretentious. We were welcomed with a bit of food and some beverages. The patio is absolutely gorgeous! Luckily the hotel was air conditioned because we were there during a heatwave. Our room was incredibly spacious. We had a king bed and an upstairs loft. There was a canal view but the window was small. Every detail was impeccable! Big bathroom, spacious living area and loft area. The location was also great! We were a short walk to the town square, so our area was peaceful. We also enjoyed the breakfast each morning. Delicious and filling! Every person who worked at the hotel was friendly and helpful. I would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel to someone who wants to enjoy a quiet, luxurious place! Would love to go back if we visit Bruges again.

Hotel Van Cleef set the bar high for all future hotels. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Luxury Canal Suite #1, which overlooks the canal. You can't beat the view or the comforts and design this hotel provides. From top amenities such as Penhaligon's soaps to a very stylish (and good) espresso machine in suite, you feel right at home. Bed was comfortable, showers were hot, and my large bathtub also had canal views! As you wander around the hotel lobby, sitting rooms, and restaurant/bar, you'll find it hard to leave because of the beautiful decor and friendly staff. I highly recommend having breakfast here every day whether you like a light meal with breads, fruits, cheese, or something made to order such as bacon and eggs. This food was the best meal we had during our 3 days in Bruges. Nicoletta prepares the meals with precision and care using the finest and freshest ingredients. Last but certainly not least, I want to give my warmest thank you to the staff for making us feel like family. Frederik started everything off right with initial communication via email. He's kind, clear, and always responds quickly. Lucas, Rebecca, and Benjamin made us feel so welcome throughout the entirety of our stay. They provided easy check-in, great local recommendations, and were always there for whatever our needs. Arnaud is the man behind the very stylish decor. You might even be lucky enough to meet an adorable dachshund who made my visit complete!

We had an excellent 3 days at the Van Cleef hotel. The public rooms are beautifully appointed and the bar cosy and welcoming. The staff couldn’t do enough. Lucas, Rebecca and Benjamin were great. One minor issue with the hot water was dealt with promptly. This is a fabulous hotel which we will definitely go back to

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Van Cleef. The hotel is well located and just a 10 minute walk to the centre of the town. It is conveniently located for great restaurants. The room we were allocated was very comfortable, although generally the hotel feels a little cluttered and slightly outdated in its decor. HOWEVER everything is comfortable and clean and the standard of care from the staff is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. They are all brilliant, offering help and advice, booking restaurants and trips. I would defo use this hotel again.

We had a 3 night stay for my 60th. The staff from the moment we arrived were brilliant,-friendly and knowledgeable, the stars of the show. We booked the junior suite and were given options, the room was large with a huge comfortable bed and all the kit you need. The decor is tasteful and comfortable a good example of boutique hotel chic. the location is 5 mins walk from the main squares and wonderful placed to eat. My only suggestions for improvement would be better quality coffee and continental breakfast should be free at that room rate. Aside from that a wonderful stay.

Beautiful hotel and welcoming staff. We really did feel like we were guests in a family home. We were upgraded on arrival to a junior suite which was a lovely surprise. Relaxing in the lounge with a drink was a highlight. Location of the hotel was great, very short walking distance to the centre, and beautiful canal side location, very quiet at night. The staff could not have been more helpful. Recommending and booking for us some great restaurants, and we even had the log fire relit for us when we stayed in the lounge past the bar closing. I loved every detail of the decor.

Our recent stay at this beautiful boutique hotel was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the friendly and informative staff attended to our every inquiry and need. The hotel is elegant and exquisitely decorated. It is perfectly located with gorgeous canal views. We had lovely conversation with the owners as we departed. We unconditionally recommend this property and fully intend to return at a future date.

We stayed at Hotel van Cleef for 3 nights in September 2023 as part of an anniversary trip. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - between the attentive staff, incredible food and location, and the smartly decorated rooms, we cannot wait to go back. When we arrived, we were welcomed by name and offered a tour around the property. Unfortunately, we had a tiring journey, so we opted for a welcome cocktail in the privacy of our room (Definitely take the welcome tour - we wish we had!). For breakfast, you can dine outside on the patio overlooking the river or in their beautifully decorated dining room. Definitely try their eggs benedict - you will not regret it. Turn down service each night was such a nice treat. We have recommended Hotel van Cleef to our friends and family and hope to be able to return sooner than later.
