I stayed already several times in Hotel Solar de Monfalim, and it is always a pleasant experience. And nicely different to the more business-oriented larger hotel chains. The Hotel Solar de Monfalim has a traditional charm, and the team is really friendly, warm and welcoming. Greatly recommended!

How often do you get to sleep in a former palace? Built by a nobleman in the mid-1500s, it became a hotel in the late 1800s. Two massive flights of concrete steps must be climbed just to reach the reception desk, then more marble steps to reach the sleeping rooms. Furnishings probably last updated in the 1920s-1930s. Modern plumbing (sort...

We stayed here two nights while exploring Evora. The hotel is a little faded and dark, but the location is superb. Everything is a short walk away, even though the hotel is set back a little so it is very quiet. Our room was very clean and good-sized. The WiFi worked well in some common areas. Service was pleasant but...

Just in the heart of the historical and monumental Évora, this is a great hotel to stay there and discover the city. 3 minutes from main square (Giraldo), and 5 from Capela dos Ossos and Cathedral, the situation is perfect. The building is an historical one which preserves the spirit of an ancient house. The rooms are big and clean,...

Solar de Monfalim provided a beautiful introduction to the city of Evora. Located centrally within the walls of Evora, Solar de Monfalim was comfortable and clean, and the staff were courteous and helpful, offering advise for seeing the city. I definitely recommend a stay in this beautiful guesthouse!

The Hotel Solar de Monfalim is a wonderful, warm place to stay in the very heart of the historic district of Evora. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful, especially Carmen, who showed us how to make beautiful rugs in the traditional way her grandmother taught her. Both of the rooms we stayed in (two separate visits) were lovely, comfortable and...

The room was comfortable, with an exquisite bed, the staff amazingly nice and the whole feel of the hotel was appealing to me, in a vintage way. It has a nice outdoors area where you can hang out, as well as an inside family room with a fireplace, for the colder days. It is close to Praça do Giraldo, the...

Rustic accommodations within the walled city of Evora made for a great stay for our family of five. Very affordable with a friendly and accommodating staff, highly recommend this stately and unique property. There is free parking outside the city walls (15 min walk) or you can park in front for about 8 Euros a day (have to feed meter...

As they say, it's a very old property which has all the unique and funky things we miss in modern accommodations. The staff were all extremely helpful and professional, breakfast fine, hot water and water pressure for days, our room was possibly the quietest of any place out of a two week trip in Portugal. Everything in Evora is in...

One always has to remember that "you get what you pay for". This is an inexpensive hotel compared to several others nearby. It is a tired hotel. Room was very small, towels are rough, 50% of light bulbs are burned out, bed was too hard for my taste and the breakfast was very meager compared to other places we have...
