The place where the hotel is just wonderful. But that's all. The beds are uncomfortable, I couldn't close the window, some of the lights in the room didn't work, the breakfast was poor and I found cockroaches in the room. I add some photos. I don't recommend this place, if you want to visit the garden, it's open all days.

The hotel is located in the Botanical Garden with a beautiful scenario. However the hotel itself is way to expensive for the service and facilities available. The room had smell of mold and several cockroaches were seen during our stay. The breakfast was really basic

The garden is amazing, no doubt about it, and the building per se is beautiful from the outside. The rooms downstairs are large but quite humid, smelly and dark, the bathroom very old; all in all, the rooms could use some renovation (and hangers!). Bring earplugs, since the walls are so thin that you think the people next door are... More

You have never stayed in a hotel with such a beautiful and unique setting. Hotel Casa do Jardim is a palatial home set in an extensive and mature botanic garden, including some magnificent trees imported many years ago from the Pacific Islands, Australia, Africa and elsewhere. The hotel itself is very nicely kept with helpful staff who work hard and... More

Firstly, the gardens are amazing, well kept and a lot of exotic trees and plants, with all the birds singing it was easy to relax away from the crowds. However (!) the hotel itself is way to expensive for the service and facilities available. The breakfast was basic, bread rolls jam, ham, cheese and stale cereal. Coffee, orange juice and... More

I had booked this hotel before reading the comments about it (anyway, we had no choice, almost all hotels were full for the festivities of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres) and were afraid about what to find when reading about smells and humidity. In the end it was a nice surprise. Maybe because of the season (begin May), but we... More

It took us a long time before we actually had found the hotel. Hidden away after bamboo forest and no indication in the beginning of the garden. We even missed the guardswoman at the entrance. Walking in the garden is a fairy tale (I was there with my teenage granddaughter and we both fully enjoyed that ambiance). This is not... More

Our stay in this hotel was amazing. It'a true, all rooms are in the basements but they are big and beds are really confortable. Moreover the man at the reception was super kind with us: he explained all the best places to see and how to reach them. I don't get the bad reviews on breakfast: for me there was... More

There were six of us in our party. We've stayed in lovely 3/4/5/ star hotels all over the world. In Sao Miguel we wanted something different, something more of an 'experience'. House in the Garden? Sounded intriguing to us. The setting in the botanical garden is magical, very peaceful and quiet, about a ten minute walk to the historic center... More

We only spent 1 night at this hotel as a stop over between Sao Miguel and the island of Flores. The value you get for your money isn't great. Bedrooms are outdated and our TV screen was about 35cm wide. Bathroom with shower was basic but clean. The breakfast selection was poor. Eg: no fruit available, 2 choices of preserves,... More

“All rooms are similar as the hotel is fully surrounded by the garden and are all at ground level. The ladies in the reception speak mainly Portuguese, but understand english and are extremelly friendly and can help you find your way in town, call taxis etc. By the way, if you leave the Garden gate and cross the stree walk down the hill until you reach the city doors near the harbour, and find a small family restaurant called Nacional, there you will be served really good food at honest prices and with an extremlly friendly service by waiters that can speak english.”
