Upon arrival we already noticed smelly hallways and a somehow unpleasant atmosphere that made us feel not welcome and uncomfortable. The unfriendly and superficial staff assigned us a room and was not helpful in any way. The room was extremely dirty, something you only know out of television horror stories that you think you would never encounter yourself. Mold was...

We wanted to stay at this hostel for some nights in January, but already at the entrance we felt a little bit unsure if this will meet our expectations concerning a normal stay at youth hostel. It did not. We did not expect something extraordinary, but this was far below standard. Besides the unfriendly staff, the rooms were dirty and...

Location is convenient, and the nearby gardens are very cool. The hostel itself is in pretty poor condition. The bathroom was dirty, with only 2 functioning showers. The motion-activated light was broken, and required me to jump and slap the unit to get any light at night. The rooms were fine, typical hostel rooms. Hordes (literally 40+) 14-15 year olds...

The pousada is located close to the city centre, which is very convenient. The dormitories are not locked, there is given only one key for the room, which doesn't make you feel entirely safe. Moreover the bathrooms are terribly dirty. Breakfast with (surprisingly) worst coffee ever in Portugal. Wifi works only downstairs, but that's not a big deal. The only...

I came straight from the incredible youth hostel in Calheta, so it was a bit a culture shock. The, what some here call a historical, building is really old style. The hallways are noisy like hell, the bathrooms look like an army bunck and the whole place looks like you went a few generations back in time. Combined with a...

The good points: - Nice old atmospheric building from the outside - Great location overlooking the town (and the sea in the distance) - Within walking distance from the centre and a 10-minute bus ride from the airport - Beautiful gardens - Spacious private double rooms with a balcony overlooking a succulent garden - Room very clean - Friendly staff...

We visited the HI whilst in the city and found the accomodation dated. Given the price to stay here i would expect state of the art hostel. Theres quite a fee things missing - no wifi in the room Theres no where to hang your clothes while in theshower. Youneed to hold the shower with one hand whilst soaping yourself...

The rooms very nasty, bathrooms were dirty and furthermore the wifi does not arrive in the room. The common room is nice. I would not recommend it because it was not a good experience. The position was good

The pousada is more charming than most youth hostels international establishments. Basic stuff, it's big, it's clean, you can sleep here. The staff was very nice and there's free internet and the possibility to print documents. There are several hostels in Ponta Delgada that are cheaper, smaller, more centrally located and a lot more characterful - but this is a decent...

As some other reviewers have noticed, it is an old hostel, which could definitely use some modernizing. Nevertheless, I think that the old, crooked feeling is really fitting for a place like this. It just adds to the overall atmosphere. Beds are decent, as are the showers. Breakfast is a little basic, but the staff is incredibly helpful and the...
