I was here for two nights as part of a tour group. We were treated very well, with friendly service. The beds were comfortable, however, my only comment would be the pillows were not, too firm. The dinner as buffet, and it as well as the breakfasts, were better than most hotel buffets. Hotel was clean and quiet, I would recommend.
This is a tourist bus hotel. The breakfast buffet was incredibly crowded, and the tiny elevators couldn't handle the same time check-outs. We had to wait for four elevators and went up in order to come down. The restaurant for dinner was quite good - you can go all the way to the back to order from the menu rather than eat the 25 euro buffet.
We typically go for much cheaper hotels while traveling, but stayed here to take advantage of the big nice pool during the day when it was too hot to hike up and down the steep streets of Coimbra, and it wasn't really that much more expensive than the rest of the hotels in the area. Cintia at reception was extremely pleasant and even helped us out with an early check in. Parking in the underground garage is not included, but an elaborate breakfast buffet is. They even had a saxaphone player in the lobby Friday night. Everything was clean, wifi was excellent, gym was good for a hotel, pool is huge and there is a bar out there as well as in the lobby. Bed was very comfortable. Great stay.
We stayed at Vila Gale because we were here on a bike trip. We added an extra night and they very kindly allowed us to stay in the same room, which was quite a blessing. Buffet dinner was very good. Breakfast also. Staff have been very helpful with each request. There are often 3 people available to take inquiries. Lovely pool.
The hotel is good for what it is. A clean comfortable place to lay your head when traveling between Lisbon/ Porto/ Douro valley. Pool and views across the river were nice. Main city center only a few minutes away by car or foot. Parking was available in garage although they do charge. Rooms were a bit drab and the hallways were dark and dreary. Not sure why they don’t lighten things up a bit. It’s fine for a day or two but I would not recommend staying here if you plan on spending any significant time in coimbra.
"Rooms right at the back were on the railway line, so stay away from them. Most rooms had a great view over the river."Read full review
